In a major strategic shift, DoorDash is retiring the Deliveroo brand in several international markets, with its Singapore operations set to permanently end at 3pm on 4 Mar 2026. Following its acquisition of the British Deliveroo platform, Deliveroo’s parent company DoorDash is narrowing its global footprint to focus exclusively on regions where it can achieve dominant market leadership and long-term profitability.

Singapore’s crowded food delivery scene has long been an issue of concern for delivery sector businesses, with Deliveroo axing nearly 10 per cent of its global headcount back in 2023. Alongside Singapore, the brand is also terminating services in Japan, Qatar, and Uzbekistan, following an earlier exit from Hong Kong in 2025.
The move comes as the company faced intense rivalry from competitors and new entrants with different pricing strategies. One of the reasons included high operating costs in the domestic market, with escalating labour expenses and declining demand for restaurant partners.

According to the announcement on its website, Deliveroo “will begin an orderly wind-down process”. Official statements have not yet confirmed a general refund policy for the remaining duration of paid Deliveroo Plus subscriptions. However, under current terms, users can request a full refund if they cancel within the first 14 days of a paid period. Deliveroo has appointed Kroll as its liquidator, and they are managing the wind-down. For specific concerns regarding account balance or subscription, affected users may contact Deliveroo Support or the liquidator directly at [email protected].
Users are encouraged to use any outstanding credits or gift cards before 3pm on 4 Mar 2026, with this information officially communicated through in-app mobile notifications, media press releases, and official website announcements.

Deliveroo, praised by many for its reliability, good services, and good refund policies, has expressed its gratitude to its supporters, stating, “To all of the employees, customers, partners, and riders who have been on this journey with us and supported us along this journey – thank you.”
With operations set to cease on 4 Mar 2026, Deliveroo’s exit from Singapore closes a significant chapter in the nation’s food delivery industry, with more attention now placed on the remaining players in the space.
