Spoil Yourself With An Afternoon Tea For The Scent-ses Presented By Dior And Ruinart Rosé From 1 Oct – 30 Nov

I love to indulge in a leisurely high tea every now and then, pretending I have zero worries in the world, and all the time and affluence to spare.

St. Regis Singapore‘s latest high tea presentation will have you forgetting all your troubles with their Afternoon Tea For The Senses, specially designed and inspired by a unique collaboration between Dior and Ruinart Rosé.

From 1 October – 30 November 2019, guests will be treated to a ceremonial Champagne Sabrage upon entering and being seated at The Drawing Room at The St. Regis Singapore. This limited-run event will take place from Mondays to Fridays, from 3pm – 5pm, and on weekends—with two seatings—from 1pm – 3pm and 3.30pm – 5.30pm.

Luxuriate in the aroma of JOY by Dior, a fragrance that aims to capture the feeling of euphoria with soft notes of zested bergamot and mandarin. You’ll also notice heady essences of rose and jasmine, which culminate in a lingering fruity blend.

A session may set you back slightly more than other afternoon teas, but with the decadence that you’ll be treated to, the S$78++ (includes a glass of Ruinart Rosé) is well worth the splurge. Every additional glass of Ruinart Rosé is S$28++.

You’re in for an afternoon of delightful savoury and sweet treats, starting off with an amuse-bouche of Goat’s Cheese Gougères. These pillowy-soft bites were warm and inviting, setting the stage for the two-tiered tray that was about to be brought to the table.

Take a few sips of the Ruinart Rosé and you’ll discover both fruity and floral notes. Make sure to take complementary swigs every few bites to be able to fully immerse yourself in this multi-sensory experience.

Begin from the bottom tier, which consists of Lobster Mayonnaise Soft Bun Sandwich With Herring Caviar, Foie Gras Mousse Tartlet With Fig Compote and Mango, Beetroot And Goat Cheese Sandwich, and Salmon And Cucumber Cream Cheese Sandwich.

Then proceed to the second tier where the sweet side awaits you with Rosé Bavarois With Gula Melaka Cream On Raspberry Tartlet, Strawberry Éclair, and Pistachio And Sakura Mousse With Confit Kumquat (that’s topped off with spritz of orange blossom water).

My favourites from each tier were Lobster Mayonnaise Soft Bun Sandwich With Herring Caviar and Pistachio And Sakura Mousse With Confit Kumquat, with the former having just the right touch of acidity to balance out the richness of mayonnaise (all without overwhelming the sweetness of the lobster), while the latter wasn’t overly sweet and had a gratifying creaminess that coated my entire palate.

No afternoon tea is complete without Ruby Chocolate-coated Madeleines and Assorted Scones, which were handed out in a rather large, imposing red box that dramatically emits smoke. The Ruby Chocolate-coated Madeleines were a tad too sweet for my taste, but I loved how buttery they were.

I had nothing negative to comment on the scones as they were aptly dense, without being tough, and they crumbled effortlessly—just the way I prefer them to be.

End the afternoon on a high with a plated dessert of Vanilla & Rhubarb Vacherin With Lime Coconut Meringue, Verbena Parfait And Coconut Jelly that’s more suited to those partial to sour notes and tangy desserts.

Afternoon teas are ordinarily an event that people associate with ladies of leisure, but who says one cannot escape for a few hours in a week to pamper your palate?
