Fancy some yusheng with plum sauce? Oh! In case you’re standing by your chopsticks for tossing, stop. That won’t be necessary. I’m actually referring to one of the three latest potato chip flavours from FairPrice. Cool, right?

Yes! Never in a million years would I associate my favourite yearly CNY salad with a chip flavour. FairPrice has just launched 3 new exclusive Chinese New Year-flavoured potato chips: Yusheng with Plum Sauce, Bak Kwa and Tomato Hotpot, all made from 100% fresh potatoes.

Promo: From now till 29 Jan 2025, you can purchase any 3 potato chips for just S$6 (U.P. S$2.50 for 1 pack).

“Will it be weird or too sweet?” Those were the 2 questions I had in mind as I opened the Yusheng with Plum Sauce. I was flabbergasted when I popped a couple into my mouth. It really felt like I was eating an actual tossed yusheng.

The flavour not only embodied the characteristics of plum sauce but also possessed multiple dimensions, just like how the various ingredients come together to create that unique taste.

fairprice snacks - bak kwa

Even before I tried the Bak Kwa potato chips, it smelled like I was holding an actual piece of the classic Chinese jerky. The first bite had understated smoky notes, resembling a BBQ-like flavour. As you keep munching on them, the nuances of bak kwa become more noticeable.

fairprice snacks - tomato hotpot

Gathering together for hotpot as a family is a traditional practice for CNY. Since tomato hotpot soup base is all the rage right now, Fairprice has jumped on the bandwagon and converted it into a potato chip flavour.

It was slightly sweet with a mild acidity towards the end. At first, I was skeptical about its taste. But by the third and fourth bite, it had grown on me, and I couldn’t stop popping them into my mouth. If you’re a tomato hotpot enthusiast, you’ll love this for sure.

fairprice snacks - nuts

If you’re like me and love indulging in flavoured nuts, then check out the all-new Italian Herb Macadamias and Honey Pecans. Be warned— they’re both crunchy and ultra-addictive!

Promo: From now till 12 Feb 2025, you can get both flavours at a special rate. 1 pack of Italian Herb Macadamias is going for just S$7.20 (U.P. S$8.95), while a packet of Honey Pecans can be yours for S$6.50 (U.P. S$6.95).

The Italian Herb Macadamias were rich and buttery, with a savoury herbed seasoning that had hints of garlic. The mouthwatering Honey Pecans were creamy with a faint bitter taste from its skin, which was balanced out really well with the sweet honey coating..
