Amidst the ‘Circuit Breaker’ period, many have been rushing to the local supermarkets to get their essentials. Good news for you, you can now get your groceries without venturing too far from home as NTUC Fairprice has just rolled out a new initiative—Fairprice Store on Wheels.
These FairPrice vans will stop by five locations at Commonwealth Link, Telok Blangah Crescent, Telok Blangah Rise, Kampong Glam Community Club and Jalan Kukoh from 9am – 2pm, daily. Stocked with essential items such as rice, milk, and cooking oil, be rest assured you will be able to get your hands on some. You can also avoid the beeline at all supermarkets and grocery stores.
FairPrice Group CEO Seah Kian Peng explained that this initiative was driven to bring convenience to “people who do not have the option to have their groceries purchased on their behalf”. In addition, he added that this service was specially provided for seniors so that they do not stray too far from home.
Payment-wise, they will only accept cash payments and the usual purchase limits apply. In retrospect, hopefully, supermarket panic buying would be on the wane and help to provide for people who really need them.
During this panic-buying frenzy, we can all help one another and let’s stay #SGUNITED. Help your senior neighbours purchase groceries so that they need not expose themselves to unnecessary contact with others!
