Round up your supper kakis to the latest lok lok spot in the West — Fei Zhu Lok Lok, a humble hawker stall selling affordable Johor Bahru-style skewers, will be opening its second outlet on 17 Feb.

Located in a Jurong West kopitiam nestled under a block of HDB flats, the newest outlet will open daily from 6pm till 2am, perfect for Westies craving a late-night snack or two.

Started by two 25-year-old BFFs, Fei Zhu Lok Lok’s first outlet at Tai Seng quickly went viral because both owners were self-proclaimed chio bus. In fact, one of its owners, Phyllis Seah, initially wanted to name the stall “Chio Bu Lok Lok”.

However, Phyllis eventually decided on Fei Zhu Lok Lok, which is “fat pig” in Mandarin, as it used to be her childhood nickname due to her chubby figure.

Similar to their existing Tai Seng branch, Fei Zhu Lok Lok’s newest outlet will sell over 40 varieties of meat and vegetable skewers, with prices for each skewer starting from S$1. Some of its popular items include broccoli, pork belly-wrapped enoki, fried mantou and lady’s finger with ham slices.

There will also be new offerings, such as Mini Rice Bowls (S$3), which are topped with tom yum chicken and an oozy truffle onsen egg, a range of fried beancurd skin snacks, and side dishes such as cockles with their handmade chilli sauce.

Pair the skewers with Fei Zhu Lok Lok’s popular handmade Shiok Sauce, or choose from three other handmade sauces instead: Special Mayo, Balacan and Not Your Usual Thai Sweet Sauce.

Carb-lovers can go for the Shiok Rice (S$1) or Shiok Mee (S$1), which is essentially white rice or instant noodle topped with the stall’s Shiok Sauce, which is also being sold separately at S$10 per bottle.
