What will you guys be doing on 16th October? It’s a Friday so I imagine most of us will be gearing up for the weekend and celebrating the end of yet another successful week. If you’re anything like me you’ll be spoiling yourself with a glass of wine (or two) and, as we’re a nation of food lovers, eating something delicious at the latest offering on the foodie scene.

Lucky for us then that we are not one of the 805 million people that are living with chronic hunger. Given you’re reading this (and I’m writing it) I think it’s safe to assume that we’re not one of the 5 million children under the age of 5 who die every single year from causes related to malnutrition.

On Friday 16th October, which just so happens to be ‘World Food Day’ – an annual day of global action against hunger – I’m going to stop and take a moment out of my busy life and actually do something to help those who are not so fortunate, who do not have easy access to food, and who are literally starving to death. If you’d like to find out how you too can contribute than read on, I promise you it’s super easy…

Our good friends at foodpanda have come up with a cracking idea to honour World Food Day by dedicating an entire week starting 16th October to help contribute towards ending the universal challenge of hunger.

Food Panda world food week

From the 16th – 23rd October 2015, foodpanda is running their latest ‘You say – We give‘ campaign via an interactive app. You can help by merely clicking a button. We’re not kidding, it’s really that easy.

Upon downloading the app, which you can do so here, you’ll be presented with five staple foods: rice, pasta, potatoes, pulses and flour. All you need to do is pick one and Food Panda will donate 1kg of it to a local food bank. If you share it on Facebook they’ll double the donation to 2kg. One click, one kilo – it’s that simple.

Via the app you’ll also be able to see exactly where your donation is headed, and also keep up to date with the donations of others in real time.

So. I’m going to ask you again – what will you guys be doing on 16th October? It’s a Friday so you’ll be celebrating the end of another successful week. You’ll also be celebrating the fact you had taken 5 minutes earlier in the week to download the foodpanda app and make a genuine difference to the lives of others who are less fortunate. If you haven’t donated by the 16th October, why not download the app whilst you’re waiting for your drink to be poured, or your dinner to arrive. You’ll be glad you did, as will some of the 805 million people you’ll help to feed.

Get involved with this global movement to end world hunger and make a difference by downloading the foodpanda app.

One click, one kilo of food donated. Donating has never been so easy. If your post is shared, an additional 1 kilo is donated as well.
