As of 14 Jun 2023, founder Harry Tan of the beloved Nonya kueh franchise HarriAnns Nonya Table passes away at 76 due to colon cancer.

This incredibly dampening news was announced by HarriAnns on their Facebook page, detailing the story to the public. Within the post, it was mentioned that Harry (affectionately known as Uncle Harry) had suffered from colon cancer, in turn passing away due to pneumonia.
According to The Straits Times, his family was seeing high chances of recovery as Uncle Harry responded well to the 4 cycles of chemotherapy. Thus, it was a complete shock when he passed on, in the afternoon of 14 Jun 2023.

Many comments wish for him to rest in peace as well as their deepest condolences to the whole family. Others fondly recall his friendly attitude, always handling customers with a warm smile. It definitely made for a lengthy trip down memory lane.
HarriAnns Nonya Table had quite the evolution, going from a quaint hawker stall in Tiong Bahru Food Centre to a total of 5 branches in Singapore. Whilst the rest are located in malls, the original flagship outlet in Tiong Bahru is still where it all began in the early 1950s. This franchise will be now led by its third-generation owners, who will continue to provide delicious Peranankan food to all of Singapore to enjoy.

Of course, their kueh is a must-try item, with many happy reviews on the authentic nonya flavour. With that delightful chewy texture and strong coconut taste, many couldn’t agree more on HarriAnns Nonya Table’s quality. With 25 different types of both modern and traditional kuehs, there is a boatload to suit each and every set of tastebuds.
Uncle Harry’s wake will be held at Block 145 Jalan Bukit Merah, with his cortege will leave as of 12.45pm on Sunday, 18 Jun 2023. We send our deepest condolences to his family. May Uncle Harry rest in peace.
