The movement of vegan “meat” alternatives has been steadily growing in Singapore, from the introduction of Impossible™ Foods to Beyond Meat. Grand Hyatt Singapore has already integrated plant-based options in their restaurants, with Beyond Meat and JUST Egg.

HEURA by foods for tomorrow is the latest company to join Grand Hyatt Singapore’s vegan alternatives, where they focus on Spanish-born vegan chicken.

Recently, we got to try the vegan chicken at the HEURA food truck event that happened at Grand Hyatt from 12 to 15 September 2019.

We got to taste their Mediterranean Heura Grilled Chicken Panini (S$8), Grilled Heura Tortilla (S$8) and Homebrewed Kombucha (S$4). You can also get one choice of main with Kombucha as a combo at S$10.

I was pretty excited for the Mediterranean Heura Grilled Chicken Panini (S$8), which did not disappoint.

The “chicken” had the texture, taste, meatiness and even fattiness of the actual protein. If you didn’t tell me it was vegan, I probably wouldn’t have known.

The panini was toasted until crispy, with some smokiness from the charred bits. The vegan cheese, tomato sauce and vegetables when combined with the “chicken” also added more dimension to the dish.

While the Grilled Heura Tortilla (S$8) looked very unappetising, it was pretty tasty.

The wrap was easy to tear apart, with nice crispy edges. The “chicken” here tasted pretty authentic too. The jalapeños added a nice sour, spicy kick, while the cabbage added a nice crunch.

After all that food, the Homebrewed Kombucha (S$4) was a refreshing drink. Unlike most kombucha which has strong flavours, this one was sweet and light, and went down the throat smoothly.

The Mediterranean Heura Grilled Chicken Panini and Grilled Heura Tortilla will be permanent items on the Oasis menu at Grand Hyatt, and will cost S$18++ each with a side.

If you didn’t manage to catch the HEURA food truck, head down to Oasis at Grand Hyatt to get a taste of their vegan chicken.
