National Nut Day is celebrated annually on Oct 22 and was supposedly conceived by Liberation Foods Company from the United Kingdom in 2015. Its goal was to encourage the public to include nuts as part of a healthy diet, as well as to educate them on sustainable small nut farmers around the world.
The Peanut Butter Egg Tart costs S$2.80 each and will be available for sale at all Joy Luck Teahouse outlets for the month of October. Each tart consists of a creamy peanut butter lining in the famed Egg Tart pastry. Bits of chopped nuts are added for that addictive crunch, and the pastry is topped off with silky smooth egg custard.
