It is a sad, sad day for fellow bread lovers like myself. The ultra popular mantou shop, Just Dough, will be closing all of its remaining outlets permanently in July 2023.

Just Dough is well-known for its variety of steamed mantous, with some being filled generously with unique fillings. They’ve made a name for themselves in the local bread community, providing a delicious, healthy and affordable alternative to oilier bakes that are commonly found in other bakeries.

Just Dough announced its string of closures via its social media. On 20 Mar, they announced the closure of their Junction 8 outlet, an almost 3 months later in June, they posted about the upcoming closure of their AMK Hub outlet. The final blows came on 21 Jun and 25 Jun, where they announced the closures of their remaining 2 outlets at Clementi Mall and ESR @ Changi.

The last store to close will be Just Dough’s outlet in Clementi on 2 Jul. The company cited manpower issues and cost inflation as the reasons for the closures, and thanked their customers for the support over the past 7 years.

I’ve been a huge supporter of Just Dough since I first chanced upon their Junction 8 outlet back in 2020. The mantous sold at the store were always stuffed super generously with unique flavours that rotated frequently.

Just Dough’s mantous are priced affordably under S$3, with prices ranging depending on the flavour. Their permanent flavours include Plain, Red Bean, Yam, Purple Sweet Potato and Banana Chocolate, each donning cute, colourful appearances.

Just Dough would also often introduce special limited flavours, such as Japanese Pumpkin, Black Pepper Chicken, Peanut & Melon Seed, Durian, Tapioca, Pumpkin Salted Egg and Mala Vege.

My personal favourite flavours are their Black Sesame and Peanut & Melon Seed mantous, stuffed generously with thick and natural fillings. I’m incredibly upset that these stunning mantous will soon no longer be sold, so definitely visit their last remaining outlets before they close for good.
