Now, this is something I’ve not had before! Keow Teow Kia is a new stall in Jurong that just opened in Jul 2023. They stand in a coffeeshop along Jurong Gateway Road which is in close proximity to Jcube shopping mall.

There is a myriad of hawker stalls selling variations of noodle dishes. The variety ranges from different soup bases to dry options, various types of noodles available, and the unique seasoning choices each stall uses to garnish the dish

Keow Teow Kia attempts to stand out among its contenders with its signature dishes. I, for one, have never come across these noodle dishes before! For those of you who prefer salty food, I believe the Salted Dish Mi Tai Bak Soup (S$5) will entice you.

Mi Tai Bak is a type of noodle that got its name from the resemblance of a rat’s tail. Commonly used in both soup-based and stir-fry dishes, these thick noodle strands effectively absorb the present flavours.

The dish also consists of minced meat, fishcake slices and sliced mushrooms, amongst other ingredients.

Another unique noodle dish found here is the Wine Fragrance Keow Teow Soup (S$4.80). I reckon this dish will be extremely fragrant with a tinge of umami flavour, thanks to the addition of wine to the soup broth.

A different set of ingredients are used in this particular dish. It contains fish balls, minced meat and bean curd roll, amidst other garnishes. I love that they also add some fresh sliced ginger to complement the alcohol infusion.

Other dishes include the Bitter Gourd Minced Pork Soup (S$5.50) and Signature Soup (S$5.50). These items seem to have a lighter seasoning and flavours. These are perfect options for those who are looking for a comforting meal without an overload of saltiness.

Head down to try these dishes yourself!
