This year is set to get more exciting with several famed overseas brands launching in Singapore. This time, I come bearing news that Cote will be opening in the same building as world-renowned bakehouse Cedric Grolet PatisserieCOMO Orchard.

Functioning as a Korean barbecue and American-style steakhouse, Cote proudly carries a Michelin star on its shoulders. The American steakhouse element comes from the use of top-grade beef and a dry-ageing meat cooler.

Experience a splendid collaboration of perfectly dry-aged meat with side dishes common to Korean barbecues. An explosion of flavours comes from the pairing of the succulent and tender beef slices with spicy kimchi, braised vegetables and pickled items.

The Singapore menu has not been announced yet but one can only anticipate high-quality meats and traditionally-prepared Korean banchan. One particular item on their official US menu listed on their website piques my interest.

The Butcher’s Feast (US$68 per person) boasts a selection of 4 premium meat cuts. The star of the show is none other than USDA Prime and American beef wagyu. Beef fanatics must know that wagyu possesses a deep beefy flavour that is enhanced by the presence of fat marbling located throughout the meat slab.

Enjoy your grilled meats with Korean classics including seasonal pickled vegetables, scallion salad and red leaf lettuce with ssamjang (fermented soybean sauce). Otherwise, dip your meats into boiling spicy kimchi and soybean paste stews for an oomph of savouriness.

The last savoury side dish included in the feast is savoury egg souffle, which I have yet to try. However, with the addition of kelp yook soo, one can only imagine the umami flavours encompassed within the fluffy egg.

Be prepared to be blown away by the strong and bold flavours of this barbecue dining experience. I would also be saving this as a spot to bring my significant other on special occasions!
