Old folks form live Chinese orchestra at Golden Mile Food Centre to entertain patrons with free music

Among the hum of bustling patreons and the clatter of utensils at Golden Mile Food Centre is the melody of traditional Chinese music. If you look closely, the music is actually from a live orchestra that is made up of elderly folks!

According to footage uploaded by a netizen on the Can Eat! Hawker Food Facebook group, the dizi (Chinese flute) and pipa (Chinese guitar) can be seen being played amongst the the group of old folks. A conductor also appears to be leading the orchestra.

Though most commenters were appreciative of the free performance, opinions on the quality of the performance were divided, with a netizen calling it an “acquired taste”.
