Quick Summary

Made on Monday HQ in Johor Bahru is a Muslim-owned cafe compound along Jalan Abdul Samad, about 16 minutes from Woodlands Checkpoint, combining dining, live music and streetwear retail within a multi-space setting. The menu centres on indulgent wagyu, lobster dishes and gourmet burgers, with highlights such as lobster rolls, Boston aglio and a wagyu platter. With calmer daytime seating and livelier nights featuring live bands, it suits cross-border diners seeking a social meal that stretches into the evening.

Johor Bahru has no shortage of cafes, but few attempt to build an entire mood around a day most of us definitely resent. Made on Monday HQ does exactly that.

Made on Monday HQ - Signage

A 16-minute drive from the Woodlands Checkpoint, this Muslim-owned compound along Jalan Abdul Samad stretches across multiple shop lots, complete with generous parking and distinct pockets of space that shift in energy as the day unfolds. It recently obtained Halal JAKIM certification, a milestone that reinforces the seriousness behind the eatery.

The founders, Muhammad Jasmin and Adiba Akmal of Wild Child Sdn Bhd, built the brand around one simple idea: Mondays do not deserve their bad reputation. Instead of leaning into minimalist calm or brunch cliches, they created a space that feels alive. Music, fashion, food, community — all of it coexisting without trying too hard.

Made on Monday HQ - Outdoors

Come at night and the live band kicks in from 9.30pm. The energy builds gradually as the night progresses. The alfresco area at the back is breezy and a little more intimate.

Indoors, you can watch the baristas work with beans from halal-certified Blend Coffee Roasters

Made on Monday HQ - Retail corner

If that doesn’t pique your interest enough, how about browsing a retail corner that would not look out of place in a streetwear concept store? Limited pieces from Supreme, Human Made, Tom Sachs, Travis Scott, Goyard, Palace, and Louis Vuitton sit behind glass like quiet flexes.

Made on Monday HQ - Wild Child building

There is also a separate building that doubles as an event space and the Wild Child Sdn Bhd office. Extra benches there help when the main area fills up, which it often does on weekends. A second outlet is also on the way at Sunway Circuit Iskandar Puteri, making it easier for those entering via Tuas.

Now the important part — the food!

What to order at Made on Monday

Made on Monday HQ - Lobster Roll

The menu is known for wagyu dishes, lobster, gourmet burgers and handcrafted pastas, with bread baked fresh daily. If you don’t know where to start, the Lobster Rolls are a good choice — available in Classic Boston (RM146.30), Serrano Peppers (RM159.70), and Whipped Herbs (RM152.40).

Made on Monday HQ - Classic Boston Roll

The lobster is flown in live weekly, lightly folded through garlic butter and herbs, then packed into toasted brioche. The bread had that delicate and subtle crispy crust that gives way to a soft, buttery interior. The lobster itself was sweet and clean-tasting, not simply drowned in mayo.

A lemon zest sauce on the side brightened everything — get your hands dirty, pour it all over, and the richness tightens into something sharper and more balanced. Even the Caesar salad was not just a forgettable addition to the platter — crunchy and savoury enough to stand on its own.

Made on Monday HQ - Boston Aglio

Can’t get enough of the fresh, juicy lobster? The next dish on the roster was none other than Made on Monday JB’s bestseller, Boston Aglio (RM146.90) — layering lobster over aglio olio with white sauce and pesto. It sounds extravagant; it works.

The plate itself would remind you of an avant-garde painting of a surrealistic island. A whole lobster rested dramatically to one side, while a generous sweep of white sauce and pesto pooled beneath it, framing the aglio olio like shoreline against open sea.

Made on Monday HQ - Pasta & sauce

Start with the pasta. The aglio olio was properly al dente, each strand coated in fragrant olive oil and lifted by a gentle heat from the spices. A few tender beef strips weaved through the noodles, adding subtle smokiness that anchors the brighter notes of garlic and oil. On its own, it was already delectable. Adding a forkful of lobster with a drag through the creamy herb sauce opened up the flavours even more.

Made on Monday HQ - Wagyu Platter

As impressive as the lobster is, you haven’t seen the true king of the lineup. Ordering this will get the spotlight on you from the moment it lands on the table. (You might have to fight your friends from stealing a bite though.)

SANG Seafood: JB’s 1st halal chilli crab destination featuring signature Chinese fare from Nyonya-style seabass to Nestum prawns & crispy honey-glazed squid

Made on Monday HQ - Australian wagyu steak

Their Wagyu Platter (RM297.70) came with a slab of Australian wagyu steak cooked to your preferred doneness, served with chimichurri, Tennessee sauce, sweet potato fries, roasted lemon and garlic, plus a Caesar salad.

Made on Monday HQ - Medium rare steak

Medium rare is the move. The steak arrived tender and juicy without feeling greasy. Chimichurri cut through the richness with a fresh herbal touch. A light dash of salt enhanced the flavour profile even more.

Made on Monday HQ - Caesar Salad

The Caesar salad held its own alongside the heavier mains. Fresh romaine delivered a fresh crunch, croutons added texture, and a silky egg yolk enriched the dressing. A generous shower of shredded parmesan tied everything together with a savoury, nutty finish that kept each bite balanced and toothsome.

Finally, onto Made on Monday JB’s burgers!

Made on Monday HQ - Aussie Burger

We genuinely couldn’t overlook the Aussie Burger (RM66.90). The 250g Australian beef patty was seasoned generously and seared to lock in its juices, layered with streaky beef, a slice of cheddar, red onion, pickle gherkin, leaf lettuce and tomato, all tucked into soft toasted buns and crowned with smoked beef brisket.

Made on Monday HQ - Brisket cheeseburger

The first bite was messy in the best possible way. The patty was juicy and deeply savoury, with a proper char that added a subtle smokiness. The brisket brought another layer of richness, almost melting into the bun beneath it.

Pickles cut through with sharp acidity, red onion added crunch, and the cheddar rounded everything out with a creamy saltiness. The bun held firm without turning soggy, keeping each bite substantial rather than collapsing halfway through. You might not be able to return to a regular fast-food burger after trying this.

Made on Monday HQ - Classic Big Cheese

If you lean towards something more classic, the Classic Big Cheese (RM42.10) answers that call. A generously sized beef patty made from a combination of minced and whole cuts, anchors layers of triple cheddar, extra mozzarella, caramelised onions, signature sauce, lettuce, tomato and sriracha mayo.

Made on Monday HQ - Cheesy beef burger

Yes, it is tall. Yes, you will need both hands. Yes, ladies, you might need to reapply your lipstick. But once you commit, the payoff is immediate. The patty was thick, juicy and well-seasoned, with a satisfying bite that would remind you nothing in life is more beautiful than excellently-grilled beef.

The triple cheddar and mozzarella melted into a lush, gooey layer that stretched slightly with each pull, while the caramelised onions lend a gentle sweetness to balance the salt and fat. The sriracha mayo added just enough heat to keep things flavorous without overpowering the rest.

Made on Monday HQ - Coffee & matcha

To round it all off, the drinks selection at Made on Monday JB is enough to go round. The Iced Butterscotch Macchiato (RM16.50) was crowned with cream and a glossy drizzle of butterscotch syrup — perfect for those who like their coffee with more nuanced flavours.

On the other hand, Strawberry Matcha Latte (RM17.90) was the perfect non-coffee option. Earthy matcha layered with a tart sweetness from strawberry syrup — you can’t go wrong with that!

Who Made on Monday is best for?

At Made on Monday JB, daytime is calmer and works well for families or larger groups who want space to sit comfortably. Night shifts the mood — making it great for dinner dates or long catch-ups that stretch toward midnight. You can move between indoor and outdoor seating depending on how loud or laid-back you want the evening to feel.

Do we recommend Made on Monday?

Made on Monday HQ - Food

Yes, but not just because it is big or flashy. Made on Monday in JB stands out because it commits to its concept fully. The compound layout, the music, the merchandise, and the indulgent menu all point in the same direction. In a city packed with cafes chasing the same aesthetic, this one built its own lane and filled it properly.
