August is a special time for Singapore—indeed, it’s our birthday! Yes, while the far-reaches of COVID-19 have tainted the nation’s birthday, we can still celebrate the best way we know how—eating our hearts out. Here is a list of 10 National Day promos featuring some of our favourite local flavours that will make you proud to be Singaporean this National Day.

Presenting the National Day Special Edition Chili Crab Fish Burger (from S$13) & Chilli Crab Fries (S$7.20)! Think of a crispy fish patty sandwiched between two fluffy buns that are then smothered in chilli crab sauce. Yes, this crabstatic feast is clearly a homage to one of the iconic dishes of Singapore. Plus, with island-wide delivery, you can enjoy S$10 off your first delivery order. Now, that’s a celebration indeed.

What’s a party without a pizza? One of the best places that know who to crank up a pizza would be the indomitable Pepperoni Pizzeria with their National Day Bundle. I know, I used to baulk at weird fusion food, but this Laksa Pizza (S$28 dine-in & takeaway, S$30 for delivery; available only in Large) is the real deal.

A twist that didn’t veer too far off the beaten path. The Laksa Pizza is exactly what it sounds like, slathered with a rich and savoury laksa sauce, generously topped with mozzarella, tiger prawns, Venus clams, squid, hard-boiled egg, and tofu puffs. Available from 6 to 29 August 2021, you have to try it before you knock it.

Moreover, the National Day Bundle (S$56, U.P. S$68) is here to sweeten the deal. This set comes with the hearty Laksa Pizza, crispy chicken Wings, mouth-watering Calamari, and a refreshing side of Roasted Cauliflower with Mint Yogurt for you to say a happy birthday Singapore. You can place your orders here.

This year in celebration of National Day, they have come up with the PBD x Tell Your Children Special Nasti Burger (S$18). This special sandwich comes with a succulent rempah marinated chicken thigh, house-made sambal, crispy anchovies, cucumber on a coconut bun. Yes, this sandwich was supposed to one-up a Nasi Lemak burger by those famous golden arches.

The burger is available throughout August, and you’ll also get the exclusive Tell Your Children tee to get S$8 off.

Lepak Ah is a wonderful mix of Jim Beam White, Midori, Amaretto, and Cranberry Juice. Exuding scents of liquorice and nuts, this deceptively simple formula is the perfect companion for a lazy Saturday afternoon. If you’ve grown up in the 90s, you’d be familiar with Steady Lah, inspired by the character Phua Chu Kang with vodka, Amaretto, Midori, orange juice, and peach and plum bitters.
If not, Swee Boh pays homage to the majestic Marina Bay Sands with additions of tequila, sangria, and lime juice for a bold concoction. Singapore inspired cocktails with extra Singaporean names, sign me up indeed.

These cocktails will be available from now till 31 August 2021 on GudSht’s online store at S$15 for the 120ml bottle size and S$28 for the 300ml. They are also available as part of GudSht’s National Day Bundle at S$46 for a set of all four cocktails in the 120ml bottle size and S$96 for a set of four in the 300ml size. Imbibe to your heart’s delight.

10. Yàn

I know we’ve been talking about parties all listicle long but trust me when I say, there’s no party like a dim sum party. Cantonese restaurant Yàn knows this, so trust and believe National Day Dim Sum Party at Home (S$88) is everything you’ll want for a dim sum party at home.

This is a smörgåsbord of treats that will want you to have dim sum like this every day. Indulge in the likes of a dozen skewers of Chicken Satay with Cucumber, Onions and Peanut Gravy along with Yàn’s Seafood Mee Goreng. Of course, there are favourites that can’t go wrong like the Wok-Fried Carrot Cake with Chinese Pork Sausage and Homemade XO Sauce.

But I’m looking forward to the Steamed Hainanese Chicken with Sticky Rice wrapped in Lotus Leaf or the Steamed Laksa Buns with Chicken and Mushroom since it’s two of my favourite things all wrapped up in one.

Dim sum on National Day feels just right, doesn’t it? You can place your orders for this Dim Sum Party right here.
