Mediterranean cuisine continues to enthral us equatorial folk with its distinct cooking style despite ingredients largely similar to our local fare. Rising to meet our eternal chase of this idyllic region is Noa Lounge, a bar and lounge concept by BARMUTEARY.
Newly opened at Mondrian Singapore Duxton on 30 Aug 2023, the restaurant fits snugly into the hotel and its classy surroundings (Duxton) at large, thanks to a well-crafted, sophisticated aesthetic paying homage to the colours of the Mediterranean. Noa Lounge offers diners a truly exquisite dining experience.
Titillate your taste buds first with appetisers like Noa ‘Bomba’ Crispy Meatball with Harissa and Allioli (S$16) – globes of succulent pork and beef between rich, peppery sauces, or the deceptively simple Homemade Pickles Salad (S$16), a plate of tangy flavours to activate your senses.
Then, fully partake in Charcoal Grilled Salmon with ‘Chraimeh’ Sauce (S$37) – smokey salmon topped with chraimeh sauce and in company of some greens. If your desire for red meat is stronger, Lamb Kofta with Fava Beans and Yoghurt (S$35) and Pork Belly with Roasted Pineapples (S$96 for full, S$48 for half portion) are excellent choices.
Pete’s Mediterranean Grill: Hawker stall with authentic Middle-Eastern cuisine by Iraq-born chef
Chicken or Iberico Pork Cheek Skewer in ‘Marraquesh‘ Style (S$32/S$36) lets you take your pick of protein.
Dessert fiends will find their meal’s end further postponed as Black Lime and Grapefruit Tart (S$14) and Cherries and Pistachio Ice Cream Sandwich (S$15) draw in those with a sweet tooth for even more indulgence.
Of course, for its pivotal part in Mediterranean cuisine, wine also receives a deservedly bright spotlight – a 4.5m-tall bar being Noa Lounge’s shining tribute. Besides appointing the mixologist to concoct blends on the fly for an authentic Mediterranean swig, you can try their regular cocktail selection, too. The range includes Zuma (S$24) of aged rum, lime and habanero and Calypso (S$24), among many others.
With a complete score in Mediterranean cuisine and atmosphere, it seems topping what Noa Lounge has to offer will be a tall order.
