I’ve always been of the opinion that few woes (like the dreaded afternoon slump!) cannot be solved with a good cuppa joe and some freshly baked pastries. It’s a good thing that Singapore has no shortage of lovely cafes to stop by for a pick me up – say hello to the newest kid on the block, Rise.
Decked in cheery coral and bright salmon pink hues, this new bakehouse serves up a variety of cakes, doughnuts, pastries, gelato, coffee, and more. All the bakes at Rise are made fresh daily, and promise a good morning to all customers who pay a visit.
Now, you can’t deny that their 85% Dark Fudgy Brownie (S$4.20) looks incredibly decadent. If you’re a self-proclaimed choco-holic, then this one’s going to give you the treat you so deserve. I’m personally leaning towards the Yuzu Lemon Teacake (S$4.20), especially with that gorgeous sunshine-yellow glaze. If you’re paying a visit with some friends, why not opt to split the Black Sesame Teacake (price TBA) and Apple Crumble Pie Teacake (price TBA). Not only do you get the best of many sweet worlds, but they’re perfect for a cafe-hopping ‘gram update, aren’t they?
If you need something to reward yourself after a hard week, opt for their Weekend Canelé (S$4.20), a delectable French pastry with notes of dark rum and sweet vanilla bean. It has a custard centre with a caramelised crust, and is only available on weekends. It can be your motivation to Rise out of bed early instead of sleeping, and I promise it’ll be worth the early morning that you usually spend sleeping in.
