I know all of us are upset about the tightened measures. As much as it pays to be safe rather than sorry, I’ve found myself day dreaming of the time I’ll be able to go on my next cafe hop or food tasting. My job as a food writer takes me to establishments all over Singapore, but the silver lining of this admittedly dark cloud is that home-cooked food is now a luxury I am able to enjoy—maybe even embark on a couple of cooking adventures or two.

I’m sure a lot of us are planning to take this opportunity to practice our MasterChef moves in the kitchen, though it now introduces the problem of finding fresh and high-quality produce. I know that I’ve made one too many confused Google searches in the middle of NTUC. To give you a push towards cooking healthier meals at home, Singapore’s fresh & frozen foods distributor Tay has launched S Pure, supposedly Asia’s Best Fresh Chicken at Isetan Scotts.

Tay focuses on promoting healthy poultry—S Pure’s fresh chicken is antibiotic-free, cage-free, and reared without growth hormones or promoters, so you and your family will really be embarking on clean eating journeys through and through. Whether you’re experimenting with air-fryer recipes or trying to recreate your grandmother’s signature herbal chicken soup, S Pure boasts a versatile range of premium chicken that has something for every recipe.

To maintain the highest level of freshness, the chicken is transported the very next day via air cargo, with a cold chain maintained from the start to the end. If you’re a stickler for freshness when buying groceries, this one will pass with flying colours.

Take your pick from S Pure’s Skinless Boneless Breast (S$7.60), Boneless Breast (S$7.20), Fillet (S$8), Drumstick (S$6.50), Middle Wing (S$6.70), and Wing Stick (S$6.30). They are currently offering a free cooler bag with every four packets of chicken purchased until 9 August 2021. And who knows? If you do come out of this second semi-lockdown with brand-new cooking skills, it might just be a blessing in disguise.
