With the shopping haven of Bugis Street and a multitude of F&B joints in the area, most folks (myself included) thought that Bugis couldn’t get any livelier. Looks like we will be proven wrong with the new Taiwanese bakery Shinfuni that opened recently.

The Taiwanese bakery is famed for their grand opening giveaway, giving away a total of 600 Chocolate Crispy Puff from 15 Jul to 17 Jul 2023. Limited to one per customer, it’s no surprise that Bugis Junction will be crowded during these 3 days.

Being the sister brand of cream puff expert KAZO, Shinfuni has a selection of several KAZO favorites like the Polo Bun (S$5.80) and Crispy Puff Series (S$3.30). Needless to say, expectations will be high for this bakery to have to-die-for pate a choux.

Shinfuni has quite the assortment of cream puffs available — Chocolate (S$3.30)Hokkaido (S$3.30), Matcha (S$3.30) and even Durian (S$4.50). There’s even KAZO’s famous Kazu Kazu available for purchase.

Fear not, as Shinfuni will have exclusive items as well. The most anticipated would be their Signature Hokkaido Cream Apple Pie (S$5), with smooth Hokkaido cream hidden beneath layers of buttery pie crust. Given its crisp, refreshing apple flavour, it will be truly difficult to turn down this sweet treat!

Another will-be fan favourite is the French Brulee Bun. With a light caramel glaze over the bun’s custard centre, this bun makes for a classic snack for afternoon tea. It seems that custards will be Shinfuni’s forte.

There will also be a Volcano Donut line, including donuts like Hokkaido Volcano Donut (S$3.90) and Chocolate Volcano Donut (S$3.90). Taro lovers will adore the Taro Orh Nee Volcano Donut (S$3.90), stuffed full with classic yam cream.

With this new addition to Bugis Junction, it’s safe to say that there will be a crowd for Shinjuni’s goodies. Perhaps, you may spot little ol’ me amongst the crowd, queueing for those French Brulee Buns.
