Not a day goes by where I don’t start my day revelling in the hum of my coffeemaker. Seriously. Sometimes, I go to bed at night dreaming about the almond milk latte I’m going to make myself the next day. It goes without saying I’m always on the prowl for my next café visit, and State of Affairs has found its way to my list.
Located at Upper Thomson, this coffeehouse promises a fragrant cup of joe. They are also Halal, which means that our Muslim friends can add this to their to-visit list as well.

State of Affairs had their soft launch recently, on 23 January 2022, and have been promising powerhouses in cups from day one. They’ve got a Rio Brilhante Roast (Price TBA) from Brazil, boasting of a light, fruity note. If you need a break from the instant coffee packets laden with sugar, this is the sign.

Their current soft launch menu includes Coffee (Price TBA) and Chocolate (Price TBA), ideal for giving you a much needed jolt from that afternoon slump you’ve been fighting off. And while you’re at it, fight off those hunger pangs with their Smoked Potato Croquette (Price TBA), Fried Chicken with Soy Butter Glaze (Price TBA), or indulge in a comforting platter of Grilled Cheese with Tomato Soup and Tarragon Oil (Price TBA).

State of Affairs also welcomes customers from 6am onwards; it’s a little early even for a morning bird like myself, but what better way to start the day with a coffee fix? Their early opening hours are meant to cater to cyclists who want to takeaway a cuppa.
