While high tea are a dime a dozen, à la carte iterations are rare. And as if that’s not special enough, this one here at Swissôtel Merchant Court is also a buffet, a buzzword that signal value and a huge bang for the precious buck.

The à la carte menu at Ellenborough Market Café high tea buffet is, in a word, exhaustive.

A quick scan of their menu reveals classic favourites sure to set hearts aflutter.

There are traditional Peranakan appetisers such as Homemade Otak-Otak and Chilli Crab Kueh Pie Tee, while Western options include the high tea classic of plain and raisin scones with berry jam and clotted cream.

Elsewhere, the Kong Bak Bao takes on a creative slant as a burger with such fillings as Babi Pongteh, Buttermilk Fried Chicken, and Pulled Duck With Plum Sriracha.

There is also an assortment of Dim Sum selections for diners to choose from. Options run the gamut from the classic mini Portuguese Egg Tart and Salted Egg Custard bun to more unique offerings such as Deep-fried Fish Balls With Nyonya Curry Sauce.

Desserts come by way of a quintet of durian-forward sweet treats, hot desserts like Pulut Hitam, and chilled options such as the ubiquitous and much-loved Chendol
