New in town: Tapas 24, Robertson Quay — Barcelona’s popular tapas bar hits Singapore

With the growing popularity of Spanish food in Singapore, tapas bars are becoming a common sight in our local F&B scene. A new kid on the block that landed on our shores is none other than Tapas 24—Asia’s first outpost of one of Barcelona’s most beloved restaurants helmed by Michelin-starred chef, Carles Abellán.

Nestled along the banks of Robertson Quay, Tapas 24 is set to be Singapore’s hottest new social dining destination with its colour and casual interior which evokes the fun, unfussy atmosphere of the Barcelona flagship.

Step into the eatery and expect to be whisked to the shores of Barcelona. Here, the kitchen is helmed by Chef Carolina Garcia Santamaria, a protégé of Chef Carles Abellán himself.

Staying true to the original concept of the parent outlet, the menu at Tapas 24 Singapore focuses on traditional tapas with a twist. Highlighting their use of bold Spanish flavours are signatures starters such as the “Tapas 24” Bikini Sandwich (S$16), a light bite featuring black truffles, Ibérico ham and buffalo mozzarella as well as the Barceloneta’s Bomba (S$6), a deep-fried breaded potato ball with pork and beef filling, topped with bravas sauce and allioli.

Elsewhere, leveraging on the restaurant’s use of a traditional Josper oven are Chef Carolina’s specially curated dishes such as the Roasted Eggplant Escalivada with Sobrasada (S$12), a cured sausage from the Balearic Islands, and the Barbequed Ribs en Bosam (S$40), a unique take on a classic plate of grilled ribs served wrapped in lettuce—the Korean bossam way.

What’s a tapas bar without the alcohol? Tapas 24 Singapore’s beverage menu offers a dynamic selection including some of the most well-loved street cocktails across Spain. For a bubbly and fruity selection, opt for the restaurant’s Cherry Spritz (S$58/jug), otherwise, their Shandy o Clara (S$58/jug) also makes for a great choice especially on a hot and humid day all thanks to its refreshing mix of iced cold beer, lemon juice and lemon foam.

With travel now being a luxury, why not satisfy the wanderlust in you by making a trip down to Tapas 24? Who knows, it might be your answer to that trip to Spain you have always wanted.
