Have you heard of the famous prawn noodle brand 165 Pork Ribs Prawn Noodle? If you’re a fan of their prawn noodles or mala kolo noodles, here’s some bad news: the brand is closing its final 2 outlets at Ang Mo Kio and Geylang after 29 Jun.

The closure of the 2 outlets was announced on the brand’s social media page. The post read “We would like to sincerely thank you for your support, loyalty, and for loving our food throughout the years.”

While the official announcement was only made on 22 Jun, it appears the brand had already planned to shut down in early Jun. In an Instagram reel posted on 4 Jun, the brand’s founder, Alan Woo, said that 165 Pork Ribs Prawn Noodle was struggling with rising costs, a decline in business, and finding suitable employees.

Known as Singapore’s first place to sell mala kolo noodles, 165 Pork Rib Prawn Noodles rose to fame in 2022 after being featured by multiple food blogs. Our review commended them for their tender pork ribs, flavourful prawn broth, and fresh ingredients.

However, 165 Pork Ribs Prawn Noodle now struggles with rising costs as a result of the US-Iran War. Mr Woo shared with SETHLUI.com that the losses have been significant over the past few months, resulting in the decision to shutter his business.

Does the closure of the final 2 outlets mean the end of 165 Pork Ribs Prawn Noodle’s legacy? Probably not. Mr Woo told us that he intends to rest and use the time to innovate a better and more cost-saving menu.

He added in his Instagram video, “This is not a long goodbye. I’m just taking a break. I’ll definitely come back stronger.”

Currently, it remains uncertain when we’ll see the return of 165 Pork Ribs Prawn Noodle. If you’re a regular patron of the stall or just curious about how their prawn noodles taste, be sure to visit before 29 Jun. First-timers, we recommend you try the Prawn with Pork Ribs Noodle (S$6.50) or the Mala Prawn with Pork Ribs Kolo Noodle (S$8.50)!

I can't cook, but I can eat and tell you if the food is good. I love almost everything that goes with coriander, spring onions or vinegar, but absolutely hate ginger and garlic.
