The Moment is yet another bubble tea shop that’s here to capture our hearts, this time with roots in the Taiwan Zhong Li District. 24 June 2019 marked their grand opening at Telok Ayer Street, to the delight of office workers in the district.
Maybe it’s the way that there ain’t no sunshine in the Zhong Li district, which is being represented in their signature The Moment Grey Milk Tea 這一刻灰奶茶. It’s priced at S$5.80 for a medium cup, and S$6.80 for a large cup.
I’m more accustomed to milk tea being a lighter shade of colour, but The Moment has incorporated bamboo charcoal with fresh milk to create this grayscale gradient.
As the staff handed me my drink, it was the moment I had been waiting for — another photo addition to my boba treasury.
The flavours in the cup were distinct — tea, fresh milk, and bamboo charcoal. It’s a simple, no-frills, cup of milk tea amidst the complexities of life. Quoting from their cup, ‘We do not remember (bad) days, we remember moments’.
We Singaporeans would love if there were more grey clouds for shade, but a cool grey drink will have to do.
If you were wondering whether the “clouds” at the bottom the cup were miscible with the “grey skies”, but I took it upon myself to give it quick shake for the ‘gram. It definitely makes for a great shot!
