Time flies; we are officially in the last month of 2025! With the holiday season in full swing and end-of-year celebrations underway everywhere, we thought it would be a good time to highlight some key things to check out and do in December.

1. Togetherland by World Christmas Market

The biggest event in December is Christmas. And with that comes Christmas markets in every shape and form. One of the biggest Christmas markets happening in Singapore this year is Togetherland by World Christmas Market. Taking place from 11 Dec to 4 Jan at Bayfront Event Space, this year’s edition of the World Christmas Market is twice the size of the previous and is themed ‘A Christmas Constellation’.

Over here, there will be 9 festive zones, each dedicated to a different aspect of the Christmas constellation. For example, Dancer’s Magical Playground is the centre stage and main festival arena, featuring a Christmas musical and other live acts. Dasher’s Festive Feast is the place to go if you’re looking for some festive bites, and Prancer’s Star Bazaar is the curated marketplace for artisanal gifts

Other than shopping, the holiday season is also a time to feast. At Verandah Rooftop Rotisserie, diners can enjoy a Christmas-themed buffet named ‘Magical Christmas Moments’. This menu is available as a dinner buffet (S$98++) from 12 Dec to 3 Jan and as a semi-buffet (S$39++) during lunchtime from 1 Dec to 3 Jan.

Some delicious meat items you can look forward to during dinner are the 14-day Butter-aged Argentinian Beef Ribeye, Tajima Wagyu Beef Rump and Herb-crusted Spring Lamb Rack, amongst other prime cuts. The 14-day Butter-aged Argentinian Beef Ribeye is probably the highlight here, coated in velvety smooth unsalted butter.

There is also a Seafood Bar at the buffet dinner, featuring King Crab Legs, Japanese Oysters, fresh sashimi and more. If you’re looking for something sweet to complete your meal with, there will also be festive desserts like Gingerbread Trifle, Red Velvet Yule Log Cake and Pink Chocolate Fondue

For the semi-buffet lunch, diners can expect 6 festive mains to choose from, namely Atlantic Salmon, Mediterranean Seafood Stew, Sous-vide Turkey Breast, 48-hours Braised US Beef Short Ribs, Butter-aged Argentinian Ribeye and Wellington Al Funghi. 6. MOXIE’s New Weekend Brunch

MOXIE, a modern Mediterranean restaurant located near Outram Park MRT Station, has recently launched a new weekend Brunch Menu, available from 11am to 3.30pm on Saturdays and Sundays. If you’re looking for a place for your weekend dates or gatherings, this could be the place to visit next.

This classy restaurant with a welcoming interior invites diners for a relaxing afternoon getaway, with tasty dishes such as Spanish Cod Brandade, Crab Cavatelli and Wagyu Tri Tip. The first is torched and cooked gently in thyme-infused milk and blended with mashed potatoes, garlic confit and Shio Kombu

The second is a warm bowl laced with crustacean tomato bisque, jumbo lump crab meat and house herb pesto. The third is what I would want to try; as it is grilled to perfection while covered in an espresso rub, caramelised red onions, charred Jalapeno and preserved lime Gremolata.

Beyond the mains, there are also desserts such as Pistachio Cheese Brûlée tart and an almond Sablé Breton pastry. For those of you who want some drinks to go along with your brunch, you’d also be delighted to know that you can enjoy a 2-hour free flow of house wines, rosé, and prosecco for S$38++

9. Gardens by the Bay Christmas Train Show

Christmas Train Show - Structures & Landmarks

You know what else is beautiful? Flowers. And there’s no better place to appreciate flowers than the Flower Dome at Gardens by the Bay. For the entire month of December, the fully air-conditioned conservatory also has an added festive charm, thanks to the Christmas Train Show.

Beyond just the over 130 varieties of 7,000 plants you get to admire, you can also step into the world of miniature Christmas trains inspired by the United States of America, Denmark and Singapore. Make sure to keep your eyes peeled for familiar train models as they move all around you.

While the Christmas Train Show was different from what I initially expected it to be, I was still pleasantly surprised. Check out my full thoughts on the experience below.

Looking for snowfall? There will be Blizzard Time here 3 times a day. Looking for fun? There are carnival games and rides like Bumper Cars. Looking for gifts? There is a festive fair at the Mistletoe Valley. For more details on what you can expect, check out our article here.

Ladies and gentlemen, there’s a new pickleball facility in the heart of Singapore. Located just a few minutes’ walk from Havelock MRT Station, King’s Pickleball Arena recently opened and features 4 outdoor pickleball courts

If you’re having trouble finding pickleball courts, this is another great and accessible option for you. The only consideration to have while booking a court here is that it is fully exposed to sunlight and rain, so you’ll have to be prepared for that.

Currently, King’s Pickleball Arena is having special court rates for its opening, and you can key in a “SOFTLAUNCH” code to get an additional S$2 off per hour when booking your courts. To check out the pricing and make your bookings, click here.

13. BOOKOFF Pop-up

Since my recent trip to Japan, I’ve been missing the experiences I had there, especially the scenic views, delicious food and unique stores. So even though I am not a huge fan of Japanese media like anime and manga, I was still pretty intrigued to hear that one of the famous secondhand bookstores from JapanBOOKOFF, is having a pop-up right here in Singapore.

Though visiting this pop-up will not be as awesome as walking through the streets and stores of Akihabara, I think it’s nice to relive a bit of that Japanese thrift store vibe. For enthusiasts, you can drop by COURTS Nojima, The Heeren from now till 14 Dec for the BOOKOFF Pop-up, where you will find collections of anime merchandise, comic books, retro games, Pokémon trading cards, and more.

Want to visit another bookstore that is equally vibey but more local? Check out Eliko Picture Books & Collectibles, which is tucked away in a tiny corner of Chinatown Complex. This 65-square-foot bookstore might just be Singapore’s smallest, but it features hundreds of picture books, as well as vintage collectibles.

The unique point of Eliko is more than just the library of books you can browse for adults, which include out-of-print titles and foreign-language works. Instead, it is the feeling of community, conversations with the friendly owner, and having a cup of coffee at this cosy spot that make it special.

For S$8 an hour, May Lin, the owner, invites you to sit in the bookshop, enjoy some coffee and relax while reading and chatting. If you can share with her an interesting story of your own, she might even let you in for free

If you’d like to check out this bookstore and look for your next rare find, note that it is open 4 days a week, but with opening hours that vary weekly. Follow Eliko’s Instagram page to be updated about the weekly opening hours.
