Singaporeans who live by the organic and vegan lifestyle aren’t exactly the majority. That doesn’t mean food catered to them should be harder to find. Yet, another option for them is being taken away as Thunder Tree’s Jurong East outlet will be closing its doors this upcoming 29 Oct.

Thunder Tree continues to run into bumps on their path. They managed to make a comeback last year after the closure of their organic farm with a new outlet at Bukit Batok. Things were looking up as they managed to open a second branch at Jurong East just this May.

The goal of carrying the legacy of their farm was why they resumed their culinary business. With that mission, until the last day of their Jurong East outlet, Thunder Tree will continue to sell limited quantities of their Hakka Lei Cha Rice (S$5.50). If you’d like to give them some support, do drop by.

It’s not all sunshine and rainbows at their Bukit Batok stall either as they announced a shortage of manpower, affecting the availability of their noodle-related items. Their star dish may be the Lei Cha rice, but Kolomee makes up three of their menu’s main dishes. In the end, Thunder Tree will be removing them from their fixed menu when 31 Oct rolls around. They cite both physical and monetary strain as the reason. Keep an eye out for updates though as they might bring them back on special occasions.
