Remember all that craze over making sourdough, banana bread, and basque burnt cheesecake last year during Circuit Breaker? I remember—hell, I joined in. With the WFH arrangements seeming to stay for a while, maybe it’s time for some newbie bakers to pick up the hobby too, especially with Tiong Bahru Bakery hosting a Sourdough Workshop.

The workshop at the highly popular bakery is probably a good entry point for aspiring bakers, where the experts come in and teach you all the important stuff about fermentation and moulding bread. You know TBB means business because their sourdough workshop will be carried out in a new dedicated space at TBB Foothills.

It’s no joke, you’d be guided by TBB’s sourdough expert Chef Paul himself so you, and your bread, will be in good hands. If you want to tap into his expertise, signing up for the Beginner class will cost you $165.85, so you can get a good headstart in the somewhat daunting world of baking.

The best part of it all? The price also pays for a comprehensive starter kit that not only comes packing with the secret recipe to churn out crusty sourdough loaves, but also all the nick nacks you’d need for baking at home

You can find helpful things ranging from a banneton basket and starter jar to actual ingredients including French Flour and a special 160-year-old sourdough starter, so you can bake up a storm after you learn it during TBB’s sourdough workshop.

If you’re new to this whole baking thing, don’t worry because the beginner sessions will start you off light with the theory and step by step instructions on how to make your own sourdough bread. It can’t hurt to try if you’re already hoarding sourdough from all the great bakeries all over Singapore!
