Uni Gallery by Oosterbay is a brick-and-mortar expansion of OosterBay, an online premium seafood grocer that specialises in uni (sea urchin) and sashimi.

Hidden within The Plaza Apartment, Uni Gallery offers one of the most ethereal uni and sashimi dishes in Singapore.

They’ve recently launched a new Multiple Foodgasm Kaiseki Menu (S$118++ for six courses, S$188++ for eight courses). The menu features an assortment of the most premium ingredients which includes uni imported directly from Japan, caviar, truffle, the freshest sashimi and A5 Wagyu beef.

Both the 6-course (S$118++) and 8-course (S$188++) kaiseki menu offer the Uni Tempura Truffle Chawanmushi. The star of this dish would be the uni tempura, which they wrapped in a leaf and deep-fried it tempura-style. The smooth and silky steamed egg custard easily melted in our mouths while the uni tempura provided the strong umami flavours.

While the Uni Tempura Truffle Chawanmushi served as a pleasant appetiser, the Caviar Bone Marrow was one of the mains that swept us off our feet due to the contrast in mouthful between the tofu-like bone marrow and the crunchy sturgeon caviar.

Frankly speaking, bone marrows are an acquired taste though it’s considered a delicacy in some parts of the world.

The next exquisite main that I was most excited about was the A5 Miyazaki Wagyu served with their special Uni Cream Sauce that’s made in-house.

The resplendent marbling on the beef tempted me to devour it all at once. Be sure to cook the meat till it’s medium-rare and dip it in the Uni Cream Sauce for the best experience!

End your meal off with a bang by having a serving of Toro Squid Ink Sushi. Get all the umami-laden flavours in one bite as you pop the entire sushi in your mouth. The squid ink sushi is topped with a slice of otoro (the fattiest part of the tuna; the belly), some uni and ikura (salmon roe).

Judging from the price itself, it’s definitely not something that most people can afford on a weekly basis.

However, if you’re in the mood to splurge or there’s an occasion to celebrate, you can consider Uni Gallery’s latest multi-course menu that will surely leave you wanting more.
