If you’re a fan of yakiniku, you should know that restaurants that serve up high-quality yakiniku are generally very prim and tasteful affairs. But new Yen Social, the sister outlet of Yen Yakiniku, puts a casual spin on it with a communal dining experience.
Opened in early July 2021 at DUO Galleria, Yen Social is Yen Yakiniku’s slightly more wallet-friendly concept that aims to inject some casual fun into the yakiniku experience. Since it’s conceptualised to be a more casual offshoot of Yen Yakiniku, the decor is also made more lively, featuring a counter table allowing diners a full view of the chefs working their finesse on the delicate meat.
If you’re unfamiliar with Yen Yakiniku or just the world of yakiniku restaurants in general, Yen Yakiniku is commonly cited as one of the best yakiniku restaurants in Singapore. They provide a premium and modern yakiniku dining experience, especially loved for their opulent Wagyu cuts. They also live by a sustainable ethos, which translates to an abundance of locally sourced produce.
To fit into the communal dining concept, Yen Social will be offering butcher special platters that can be shared between friends. These Yen Social Butcher Platters will require a two day pre-order.
These platters come loaded with goodies including thick-cut karubi, chuck eye roll, and Australian Wagyu ribeye. They are available in portions for 2 to 3 persons (S$109/300g), 4 to 6 persons (S$208/600g) and 4 to 6 persons (S$488/1200g).
If you’re one for aged meats, there are also cuts such as 21 Days Dry Aged Wagyu Ox Tongue, 30 Days Dry-Aged Wagyu Ribeye (S$68/100g), and the Whisky Dry-Aged Wagyu Ribeye (S$58/100g) that’s dry-aged in Kavalan Whisky.
