The wait is finally over as Yong He Eating House (永和油条豆浆) has officially opened their Toa Payoh outlet over the weekend. Having been in Singapore since 1986, the famous eating house has become a household name.
When people think of the traditional local breakfast of soy milk and soy beancurd with yummy fried dough sticks, most will immediately think of Yong He Eating House—especially their 24-hour eating house located at Geylang.
Being very well known, it’s no surprise they were greeted with long queues throughout the day of their opening.
The outlet is the first of three takeaway spots by the original Yong He Eating House (永和油条豆浆) at Geylang. If Toa Payoh is too far from where you’re located, do note that two other branches will open in Sengkang and Jurong West over the next few months.
The kiosk will also have a much smaller menu to focus on the various types of shaobing and signature soy milk. However, the soy milk in the Toa Payoh outlet is only served chilled.
Customers can also choose to turn their order to a set meal but they will have to wait around five minutes for their shaobing to be toasted. Flavours will also include savoury options like braised pork with youtiao or sweet options like red bean paste and kaya.
If you can’t wait to get your youtiao fix, I’d suggest probably wait a few weeks before heading down unless you’re fine with long waiting times.
