5 Restaurants With Dining Deals To Match Any Occasion With Your Friends & Family This Mar & Apr ’17

They say that food brings people together and I don’t think that rings any truer than in Singapore – we all love to eat! The only thing I can think of that comes close in comparison is our love for a good discount, and that’s where OCBC Cards’ dining promotions come in.

Instead of spending ages trying to decide where to go for different occasions (time that could be well spent eating mind you), OCBC has a slew of great dining offers for this March and April 2017.

If you’re looking for a great atmosphere with excellent food and that bit of class, check out these five restaurants that promise a great dining experience with amazing dining promotions to boot:

1. Equinox (25% Off Food Bill)

With arguably one of the best views a restaurant can have in the whole country, Equinox at Level 70 of Swissôtel The Stamford has been on my food bucket list for ages.

Get your best friends together or make a reservation for a romantic dinner with your significant other to soak in the sunset, with the beautiful city skyline as the backdrop. Dinner starts from 6:30pm, so get there early and flash your OCBC Card to enjoy a complimentary champagne cocktail when you order the set dinner menu.

Sipping a Bellini (peach schnapps + champagne) and taking in the whole ambience of the restaurant was an experience in itself.

equinox 2

I’ve heard great things about Chef Paul Hallett’s 5-Course Dinner Menu (S$158++) which is an absolute must-try. Course after course of artistically plated dishes arrived, looking too good to be eaten.

The Roasted Chicken Broth was a standout for me, with the combination of shiitake, a foie gras gyoza and black truffle melding seamlessly together in terms of flavour.

equinox 3

The Angus Beef Short Rib was also one of the best short ribs I’ve ever had, with a very interesting mushroom ketchup reduction. Melt-in-your-mouth and perfect when paired with a glass of Red.

equinox 4

Dessert was equally a highlight and is one of the Chef’s signature creations: Ivory Chocolate Mousse accompanied by star anise, crumbled honeycomb, yogurt air and pistachio ice cream.

Paying with your OCBC Debit or Credit Card entitles you to 25% off the food bill, on top of that complimentary glass of a champagne cocktail with each 5-course set dinner ordered.

This promotion is valid till 31 March 2017, so make your reservations today! And psst… try to get a seat by the window.

Goodwood Park Hotel is renowned for its dining experience and Sichuan and Cantonese Restaurant, Min Jiang, is becoming popular for its Set Lunch with Dim Sum.

The elegant space has an indoor and outdoor dining area, so get comfortable as you get ready to make the most of this lunch option: free-flow dim sum.

The Set Lunch with Dim Sum (S$38++) features unlimited servings of five types of dim sum. My hungry friends and I really enjoyed the (multiple portions of) Steamed Crystal Shrimp Dumpling ‘Har Kau’ and Steamed Spare Ribs with Black Bean Sauce.

This is THE place for a satisfying Sunday lunch with your kakis.

The other dishes included in the set menu (but not free-flow) like the Min Jiang Hot & Sour Soup with Seafood Wanton and Deep Fried Fish Fillet Salad with Mango were the perfect complements to the meal and definitely filled us right up.

Don’t go too crazy with the free-flow because the lunch set also includes a refreshing dessert. Get your OCBC Card out at the end to enjoy 15% off the Set Lunch with Dim Sum which is valid with a minimum of two paying adults.

This promotion is valid till 31 March 2017 so make sure you dim sum and not lose sum.

Choose a table by the window and bask in the tastefully decorated interior, with loads of natural light streaming in. The restaurant adopts a modern take on Cantonese cuisine, and boasts a vibrant menu that’s also great for sharing.

Order the Stir-fried Wagyu Beef Cubes With Red Wine Sauce (S$42++) to share and indulge in tender and juicy pieces of peppery beef, complemented by sweet onion slices.

For something more hearty and filling, try the Fried Udon with Roast Duck & Chilli and Black Pepper (S$22++). This dish was aromatic and while not very spicy, the chilli and black pepper delivered in terms of flavour.

Complement your afternoon mains with an order of the Poached Local Spinach with three types of eggs (S$18++). This dish tasted like home and was one of my favourites of the day.

Pay with your OCBC Debit or Credit Card to enjoy 50% off regular dishes (Sundays – Thursdays), with a minimum of two and a maximum of four regular dishes ordered. Please note that this promotion is valid for all mains except appetisers, desserts, special dishes, signature dishes, soups and Supreme Special Dishes.

4. Yàn (20% Off À La Carte With A Min. Of 4 Diners)

Nestled in the beautiful National Gallery Singapore is Yàn, which serves delicious Cantonese cuisine.

This is probably THE best place to head to for a sophisticated lunch with the family, and you can look forward to impeccable service and authentic Chinese dishes. Dining booths will give you a little privacy to celebrate any occasion.

I highly recommend ordering the Yàn Peking Duck (Half Duck, S$40++; Whole, S$80++), which was everything a peking duck should be – gleaming, crispy skin with succulent meat on the inside. This dish is ideal for sharing and comes served in already-prepared homemade crêpes and the traditional garnishes (talk about service!).

The Fried Live Prawn with Crispy Noodle Ball (S$12++ per serving) was my other favourite from the à la carte menu. It was my first time trying a noodle ball but I don’t think it’s going to be my last.

The star was the fried live prawns which were so fresh, sweet and juicy, and ended up in my tummy way too quickly.

I somehow can’t resist ordering dessert whenever I’m out with family, and the Chilled Home Made Fresh Mango Pudding (S$8++) was the perfect palate cleanser to end the meal.

What made the meal even sweeter was the OCBC Cards dining promotion of 20% off the à la carte bill with a minimum of four diners. This deal is valid till 30 April 2017, so get the family together and maybe even visit the National Gallery after.

Escape the hustle and bustle of the city by lunching in the cosy and serene atmosphere, with a glass of wine or two.

The Antipasti Semi-Buffet Lunch (including main course & dessert) (S$45++) is my ideal lunch experience.

the waterfall shangri la buffet

Choose from a vast selection of antipasti that highlights Mediterranean flavours and ingredients. I love that you can take your time and try a little of everything (and trust me, you’ll want to).

You can then choose to have either pasta, fish, meat or a vegetarian option as your main course.

the waterfall shangri la ocbc

If you do so, the OCBC Cards dining promotion for Waterfall features a complimentary platter of antipasti and salumeria with a minimum of four main courses ordered (so get four people together!). The Focaccia bread that came with it was amazing – soft and delicious when dipped in olive oil.

The meat main course option of veal loin was cooked to a perfect medium rare and was extremely juicy and tender. Dip the slices in the balsamic sauce for a match made in heaven.

As with all great meals, don’t forget to help yourselves to dessert – the coconut ice cream is a must-try.

The OCBC Cards dining promotion of a complimentary platter of antipasti and salumeria with a minimum of four main courses ordered is valid till 30 April 2017. Reservations quoting the promotion are necessary as the restaurant gets pretty busy.

You can also opt to get 10% off the total bill as an alternative, but do note that you can’t use both promotions in conjunction with each other.
