With its newly launched outlet at Valley Point Shopping Centre, Erwin’s Gastrobar is set up to please with its honest, hearty finger-food and meals, complimenting its wide selection of craft/ imported bottled beers alike.

A slightly different concept from its flagship store at Marina Bay Financial Centre (MBFC), Erwin’s Gastrobar @ Valley Point caters comfortably for families as well as neighborhood foodies and beer lovers.

Their happy hour menu will also be available starting from 3pm, serving till late everyday. The menu features a wide range of choices for dinner, with bar bites and sweet options too. So why not pop on down to Erwin’s today for that exquisite, imported craft beer of theirs!

A rustic yet urban mix between a diner and bar, Erwin’s is inspired by metropolitan cafes and bars of Italian origins found in the financial districts of cities such as New York City, London and Sydney. With such a wide variety of food (including breakfast, weekend brunch and happy hour menus), you’ll definitely be able to find something that will sit well with your palate.

For this tasting, we sampled a generous selection of finger food, along with a few delectable pints of beer to match.

Paulaner Original Munich Lager (happy hour 500ml – $12.80)

Beer enthusiasts will appreciate the craft beers and imported bottle beers alike. The acclaimed Paulaner is available on draft to satisfy those thirsting for a good old ice-cold beer.

ERWIN’S imported bottled beers include unique boutique brands such as Estrella (Spain, $14.50), Früli (Belgium, $15.50) and Little Creatures (Australia, $13.50/$14.50). The Paulaner Original Munich Lager was one of my favourites on the menu with prices ranging from $8.80 for 300ml to $21.90 for 1 litre during happy hour. Its refreshing, light blend pairs exquisitely with all the hearty dishes on their extensive bar food menu.

Quesadilla ($14.00)

The quesadilla is packed with roasted peppers, bacon, jalapeños, black pepper cheddar and mozzarella in a toasted tortilla. For me, it was just the right amount of cheesy, meaty goodness, without hinging on excessive cheesiness.

erwins gastrobar Carnivore Platter

The all-time favourite, ERWIN’S Carnivore Platter ($36.00), was bountifully stacked with pork ribs, chicken wings, beef sliders, pork belly and fries. The generous portions presented allows you to be spoilt for choice amidst these mouthwatering delights.

Chicken Poppers ($10.00), beef sliders ($13.50), pork cracklings ($6.00) and such were also on their extensive menu, perfect for rounds of hearty drinks and conversations.

For those with a sweet tooth, desserts are also aplenty here, with the freshly made Banana Caramel Waffle ($8.00), served with honeycomb toffee ice cream, chocolate sauce and sprinkled with toasted almonds. Admittedly not exactly the best waffles in town, their batter is pretty standard fare and passable.

erwins gastrobar Pazookie

Together with a newcomer on the menu, the Pazookie ($9.50), a giant cookie atop with ice cream and coffee ganache, ERWIN’S dessert menu, albeit too overly sweetened, will definitely resound well with kids.

ERWIN’S wide selection extends into its drinks menu as well, with the ingenious mix of a White Wine Mojito ($13.00 and up), a refreshing twist to the normal minty fare with a heavier wine body and just a dash of sourness.

Red Sangria ($12++ per glass, $54.80++ for 750ml carafe)

Always innovative and not one to rest on its laurels, a unique and fun concept at ERWIN’S is that wines are available in carafes apart from just by the glasses. The gastrobar also offers a well-curated and highly exclusive selection of boutique Wines, Spirits, Prosecco Cocktail and Sangria.

The bar food is pretty average, and isn’t that big a bang-for-your-buck. The alcoholic drinks on the other hand offer pretty good deals especially during their long happy hour which stretches from 3 – 9pm.

Erwin’s offers pretty standard fare, but with a cosy and laid-back ambience, put together with good beer and drinks, it can count as the ideal place for a hearty get-together with family or friends to bask in the casual easy setting. There’s not many other such sleek bar options in the River Valley area, which makes Erwin’s a great choice for people living in the vicinity.

Expected Damage: $20 – $50 per pax
