World’s Highest Alfresco Bar
Located on level 63 of One Raffles Place, 1-Altitude Gallery and Bar is the world’s highest al fresco bar, packaged as a multi-concept together with Stellar at 1-Altitude and Altimate Club and Lounge on the lower floors.
1-Altitude boasts a panoramic 360-degree view of Singapore, with seats around the edges of the top floor building. I’ve to say the hard straw seats are not entirely comfortable, while many patrons might choose to just stand around as well, since they have been sitting at their desks the whole day.
The most ideal view period at 1-Altitude is probably during sundown, from 6pm to 8pm for an after-work chill out session with drinks to catch the spectacular dynamic view atop Singapore’s financial district.
The open space and glass barriers provide a full view of the cityscape while the sun ducks below the skyscrappers for that picturesque golden hour. Sadly I didn’t get to experience sunset but I got to see another equally mesmerizing view.
During July – August, Singapore’s national day parade starts doing mock rehearsals and you can catch the stunning fireworks from 1-Altitude’s vantage point. The view is very worth it during this period of national celebrations.
Another worthy scene is the laser light show coming from Marina Bay Sands, which happens every weekend night and can all be taken in from this one location; 1-Altitude has truly one of the best bar rooftop views in Singapore.
As sunset transforms into night, expect heavily-laced, invigorating cocktails and housepours on offer, as well as delectable bar bites to music spun by top international DJs.
Nothing too fancy, but great classic cocktails that won’t go out of fashion.
On thursday nights, it’s TBT (Turn Back Time) Retro night at 1-Altitude and you can expect live bands to entertain the crowd with their smooth vocals and acoustic tunes from the 70s to 90s for a rejuvenating nostalgic evening.
The huge dancefloor also offers a great party club potential, with larger crowds over the weekend dancing the night away.
The greatest unique point for me at 1-Altitude is the lofty, vibrant view and a total experience package from dining at Stellar restaurant, to going up to the club lounge at Altimate or rooftop bar at 1-Altitude to cap the night; there’s no need to head anywhere else for an amazing night.
