Grander and larger in scale than ever, Weekender Foodmania Awards have returned for a second time in collaboration with UnionPay, the global leader in credit card payments.
After an intense round of voting which involved nearly 70 restaurants over the period of 11 June to 5 July 2015 by the public, the judging panel – comprising of 8 distinguished judges (including myself) have picked out Singapore’s top favourite restaurants.
During the judging phase, I ooccasionally had to eat through 3 restaurants in one night, and boy was that excruciating. Nonetheless, the deed is done and the results are in!
All shortlisted restaurants were voted in by category – Buffet, Chinese, Thai, Italian, Japanese Casual Dining, Japanese Fine Dining, Western and Indian. Judges were split up to personally taste restaurants from each category, and the winners were then decided through reviewing the top 3 most-voted restaurants within a single category. Other than category winners, Weekender Foodmania Awards 2015 has also rounded up a list of the public’s hot favourites.
Without further ado, let’s reveal the winners (TOP favorites) by categories after the judges have given their verdict.
Buffet Winner: One-Ninety Wood-fired Steaks and Seafood
Not a huge spread, but great quality and still fills you up. Big win on ambience.
Runner-ups: The Buffet (Studio M), The Line
Chinese Winner: Putien
Simple and classy, food was refined and more distinguished than the other Chinese restaurants tasted.
Runner-ups: Paradise Dynasty, Paradise Inn
Thai Winner: Patara Thai
Fine-dining yet retaining the essence of Thai Cuisine without being too pretentious, this was a surprise for me. Price was pretty affordable too.
Runner-ups: Bangkok Jam, Siam Kitchen
