Looking for a pitstop on your night out? Fung Kee (豐記) Hotdogs is a perfect place to refuel. Located in Orchard Towers, it opens in the evenings until early in the morning.

Owner Knut Randhem created the name 豐記 Fung Kee, which means ‘prosperity’ and specialises in Scandinavian hotdogs inspired by the hotdog carts seen on the streets, neatly representing the fusion of both Western and Asian cultures.

Fung Kee Hotdogs offers three hotdog flavours which have been specially crafted for the bar. You could get Classic Pork, Swiss Cheese, and Vegan.

Along with a hotdog, you can choose as many toppings and garnishes you want, from seven different condiments. The ketchup, mustard and crispy onions are complimentary.

You can also choose to add Boston Pickle (S$1), Remoulade (S$1), Secret Sauce (S$1) and Sichuan Chilli (S$3), if you want to zhng your hotdog.

With a bite of the Classic Pork Hotdog (S$8), I started my sausage adventure. Made with premium pork, the Classic Pork Hotdog is the most popular flavour amongst foreign diners. I added ketchup, mustard, crispy onions and thinly-sliced Boston Pickles (S$1).

The bun was soft and proportionate to the sausage, providing a good ratio of meat to bun. I took a quick bite and the sausage exploded in juices, so be careful not to burn your hands while you’re at it.

I enjoyed the slight crunch from the crispy onions and the addition of pickles to balance out the texture and saltiness of the hotdog.

If you like a classic dog, then you must try their Swiss Cheese Hotdog (S$8), which is popular amongst the locals — who can say no to cheese? I had mine with ketchup, mustard, and pickle relish.

The Swiss cheese came in pockets within the pork sausage, making every mouthful creamy and comforting. The pickled relish was more piquant than the Boston Pickles, so you may want to cut back on the mustard for a less tangy flavour.

Fung Kee Hotdogs offers a meatless option, the Vegan Hotdog (S$8). I topped it with ketchup, mustard and crispy onions.

The “meat” is a mixture of soy and mushroom, and I was silly to assume that it would contribute to a juicier sausage than its meaty counterpart. It turned out to be drier and lacking in flavour. Maybe the Secret Sauce or the Sichuan chilli might help to spice things up.

Have you heard of dessert hotdogs? Fung Kee Hotdogs’ Ice Cream Roll with Cwazy Candy Cwunch (S$10) is here to satisfy your sweet tooth. This unconventional name was actually inspired by an episode of Brooklyn Nine-Nine, so fans, you might want to check this out.

Essentially, an ice cream sandwich consisting of vanilla ice cream topped with crushed biscuits, chocolates and mini marshmallows. Eating it was like landing in candy land!

Fung Kee Hotdogs also serves alcohol, for all you party animals. Knut is an accomplished mixologist, and he’s well-known for making a mean Negroni (S$14). Even though this packs a boozy punch, the drink goes down smoothly enough.

If you’re not much of a drinker, Fung Kee Hotdogs has you covered too. They serve bottles of carbonated Elderflower Juice (S$5), which is light and refreshing with minimal sugar.


Fung Kee definitely satisfied my craving for hotdogs and I’ll return whenever I find myself hankering for it again. If you are around Orchard at night, head over to Fung Kee for a pitstop. You’ll find out what Singapore has been missing out on!
