Air tickets are being rescheduled and hotel bookings cancelled; the on-going COVID-19 situation has forced many of us to painstakingly forfeit our vacation plans. Since we are unable to travel for delicious food, The Fullerton Hotel Singapore has brought mouth-watering cuisines to us.

Yes, right here in Singapore. This time around, they are partnering with Thai Airways to whet our appetites with A Thai Feast: Fit For A King!

From 16 to 29 March 2020, diners at Town Restaurant at The Fullerton Hotel will not only get to enjoy the hotel’s very own signature buffet items, but you will also be treated to a showcase of authentic Thai dishes curated specially by guest chefs from Pattaya’s popular King Seafood Restaurant.

What better way to kick start your gastronomy journey to the ‘Land of Smiles’ then with a refreshing plate of Som Tam (Green Papaya Salad)? Witness your very own Som Tam made fresh on the spot at the live salad stations and feel free to request for more spice for that extra oomph if you are feeling adventurous.

The freshly made Som Tam promises bursts of tropical flavours and a slight hint of umami from the dried shrimps that will stimulate your appetite and prepare your tummy for the other delicacies ahead.

Catering to all the meat lovers is the carving station. Move on from the regular roast chicken and head directly to the Thai Spiced Barbecued Quail and Thai Style Roast Beef. Served with an array of assorted condiments, these are proteins that are definitely not to be missed.

Looking for something special? Dine on Fridays or Saturdays and you will be in for a treat! Together with Town Restaurant, usher in your weekends with their barbecue station that will only open on these two days of the week.

Apart from the restaurant’s signature beef ribeye steak and lamb chop, you will also get to savour the juicy and flavourful Moo Yang Nam Jim Jae, fatty pork collar steak marinated with coriander and lemongrass—a bona fide dish that can hardly be found in Singapore!

Of all the Thai seafood dishes on the buffet line, Pla Kapong Neung Manao (steamed bass with chilli, lime, and coriander) caught my eye and more importantly my appetite. Steamed to perfection, the briny flavour of the sea bass came through and married magnificently with the acidity from the lime and heat of the Thai chilli padi.

Pla Kapong Neung Manao aside, seafood lovers will also fall in love with Gaeng Phoo, flower crab in aromatic yellow curry and Hor Mok Talay, steamed minced fish, tiger prawn and squid marinated in red curry and served on a banana leaf.

Although these curry-flavoured dishes were great eaten alone, they make better compliments to the Tom Yam Fried Rice and Pad Thai. Just its gravy drenched on the rice or noodles will leave you craving for more!

End your meal in classic Thai fashion with all the creamy hand-made sweet treats that include a variety of coconut-based steamed cakes and the renowned Mango Thai Sticky Rice. Too boring for your liking? Then try their Tap Tim Grab, classic Thai red ruby that is bound to delight even the pickiest tastebuds.

Creamy and refreshing, with multiple layers of textures from the crunchy water chestnuts to its sticky jelly-like coating, ending your meal with Tap Tim Grab will certainly leave you satisfied with no complains at all.

Being “trapped” on our sunny island doesn’t necessarily mean staying at home, gorging ourselves with instant noodles stockpiled in our store, does it? Why not take a short break from reality and let your tastebuds travel all the way to Thailand for an aroi mak mak experience!
