I think we don’t talk about how much we love Taiwanese grub. I mean, there is nothing more satisfying than juicy, fatty slabs of pork belly sandwiched in a pillowy, steamed bun. So, when a place like Abundance rolls around offering Taiwanese fare complete with craft beers, you know you’ve got to be there.

A newly-minted restaurant in the neighbourhood of Lengkok Bahru, Abundance promises all your well-loved Taiwanese cuisine and then some. Dumplings are the great equaliser of the culinary world, and you can be sure that every culture some iteration of this dish. As for Abundance, they have the classic Red Hot Chilli Dumplings (S$8.90) which are a definite crowd-pleaser. If not, the Dark-plings (S$8.90), which are simply pork and shrimp dumplings tossed in a dark sauce, is sure to do the trick.

If you didn’t catch it by now, the name Abundance is an adorable reference to their buns. While the selection is lean, they make up for it by perfecting these favourites. Your Gua Bao (S$6.90) comes with braised pork belly, roasted peanuts, and pickles—a bun that surely never goes out of style.

The tongue-in-cheek CCB (Crispy Chicken Bun) (S$7.50) is sure to turn heads but not for reasons you think—a succulent, fried chicken thigh accompanied by tangy papaya slaw and slathered with peanut butter that sauce. Even thinking about this one is making me salivate.

Otherwise, their Classic Fried Rice (S$5.80) with an add-on of Crispy Chicken Cutlet (S$3.80) is a dependable number. For those with a sweet tooth, this one is sure to tickle your fancy. A Peanut Ice Cream Roll (S$6) where vanilla ice cream is rolled up with cilantro is sure to be some food for thought.
