East Coast Road is brimming with new makan places. This time, we’ve the newly-opened USD Cafe. USD which is basically an abbreviation of Upside Down, is located at Santa Grand HotelEast Coast Road. Trust me when I say, you’ll be having a trippy time over here.

If you love optical illusions, this cafe is for you. Its Escher-esque interior will definitely light you up. The giveaway to this gem starts from the outside with its inverted door and window. However, fret not, despite the theme, tables and chairs for patrons are set at the right way. I mean, we’re not at that stage to defy gravity, yet.

Decked with familiar art pieces, USD is turning heads as we know it. Opened on 1 March, the cafe also specialises in a wide range of beverages like the smooth Ipoh White Coffee, unheard of Cinnamon White Coffee (S$7.50), and fragrant Rosy White Coffee (S$7.50). Not a caffeine person? Don’t worry— USD also serve fruit juices that’ll sweeten your taste buds.

To state the obvious, USD is the perfect place to head to if you’re looking to update your Instagram feed. Besides, you don’t have to pay an entrance fee to get in (here’s looking at you, Trick Eye Museum).

There you have it, if you’re looking for some place different to enjoy your cuppa, head over to USD cafe to have a flippin’ trippy time.
