What distinguishes a yakiniku restaurant from another? Most joints either serve up affordable cuts of beef or extravagant slices of wagyu, but not many can claim to have been recommended in the MICHELIN guide. Singaporeans will be happy to know that there’s a new yakiniku contender in town, and it’s no other than famed Wa-En Wagyu Yakiniku, a Hong Kong yakiniku restaurant that has been recommended in the Michelin guide in 2016 and 2017! It is located at Jewel Changi Airport and first started operations on 16 Nov 2022.

The brand has been operating for more than a decade in Hong Kong, and it is most well known for its premium and delicate A4/A5 wagyu from the Miyazaki province in Japan. Also known as Miyazakigyu, this exquisite type of wagyu is known for its snowflake-marbling and it even won the “Wagyu Olympic” in 2007 and 2012! It has also been used as the winning prize in Japanese sumo competitions.

Accompanying the grill-based restaurant is the Wa-En Bar which boasts an assortment of wines and artfully crafted cocktails, which are best paired with yakiniku meats.
