Escape the bustle of Kuala Lumpur‘s city and enjoy drinks at Pahit. Located along a row of old houses dating back to the 1920s, this bar is hidden between 2 busy roads – Jalan Hang Jebat and Jalan Pudu – notorious for their never-ending traffic jams. It’s a place one would never expect to find such a calm and quiet bar.

Pahit specialises in gin, from gin-based cocktails to classic gin and tonics. The menu also boasts gins from all across the globe. To start, choose from the bar’s selection of negronis. You can never go wrong with the Classic Negroni (RM40) featuring London dry gin, Yzaguirre Rojo, and Campari. Or try the Peanut Negroni (RM45) that includes roasted peanut-infused gin, Yzaguirre Rojo, Campari, and salt.

If you discover that gin’s bitterness doesn’t suit your taste, you can explore Pahit’s selection of fruit gin and tonic options. These include Calamansi and Asamboi (RM30), Jackfruit and Lime (RM30), Lychee and Ginger Flower (RM30), and Pineapple and Basil (RM30).

Indulging in a well-crafted cocktail is always a delightful choice. Pahit’s signature drink is the Gin Pahit #2 (RM40), a delightful variation of the classic Pink Gin cocktail. This concoction combines London dry gin, angostura bitters, orange bitters, house farlenum, and lime, resulting in a slightly bitter cocktail reminiscent of the original, with a touch of sweetness to cater to local palate.

For another excellent cocktail suggestion, try the Pineapple Smash (RM42), a delightful fusion of Bols Genever, raspberry-bay leaf shrub, Lillet Blanc, pineapple juice, and mint. This well-balanced concoction offers a harmonious combination of sweetness and tartness, making it an ideal choice for unwinding after a challenging workweek.

Pahit also offers a food menu to cater to your appetite, whether you’re in the mood for a light snack or a substantial meal. You might enjoy nibbling on the Root Vegetable Chips (RM15) while savouring your drinks, or perhaps go for the Tuna Tataki Salad (RM26). For those with a heartier appetite, there are tempting options such as the Pan-Seared Striploin (RM80), Pineapple Beef Stew (RM36), and Sambal Chicken Wings (RM45).
