It is a sad day for bread lovers in the East— the Japanese bread shop, Kamome Bakery, has announced that it will be closing its popular Joo Chiat outlet on 24 Mar 2024 after 3 years of operations.

Kamome Bakery posted about the closure on 20 Feb 2024 via their social media, where they thanked their customers for the support of the outlet over the years. They did not disclose the reason for the closure. The bakery also added that the Joo Chiat outlet will only be open on Saturdays and Sundays until 24 Mar, 11am.

Fans of Kamome Bakery need not fret, though, as the bakery will continue to operate at its remaining outlet in Novena. According to the same social media post, the Novena outlet will soon open everyday from April onwards, with details to be announced soon. At the moment, the Novena outlet only operates 6 days a week.

Kamome Bakery opened its first outlet in Goldhill Shopping Centre at Novena in 2019, and later opened its second outlet in Joo Chiat on 29 Apr 2021. The bakery is known for its premium Japanese breads, cakes and pastries, including their popular Red Bean Butter Bread (S$3.40), Truffle Salt Butter Bread (S$3.90) and Mascarpone Red Bean Bread (S$3.50). You can also find seasonal bakes depending on the month of visit.

Thankfully, the remaining Novena outlet carries the same products as the Joo Chiat outlet, assuring fans that their favourite bakes will still be readily available for purchase. The Novena outlet offers full meals and cafe dishes, plus seats for you to sit down and unwind.

Recently, Kamome Bakery also collaborated with the now defunct Asanoya Boulangerie to launch their sister bakery, Kamome Bakery – Simply, Daily, located within Paragon.

The new bakery offers some of the signature breads from Kamome Bakery, plus other new bakes. Hence, if you’re upset about the Joo Chiat outlet closure, you won’t need to worry much!
