Japan lovers, did you know? You can taste its flavours right here in Singapore at Isetan’s Tohoku Fair, a special event showcasing the cuisine and culture of northern Japan through a variety of food products. The Tohoku Fair will run until 10 Apr at B1 of Isetan Scotts Supermarket in Shaw House.

Featured eats include fresh seafood, regional desserts and local alcohol from the Tohoku region in Northern Japan. This is a good opportunity for those wishing to try authentic high-quality Japanese cuisine without going through the trouble of travelling there.
It is said that Japan’s finest rice comes from Akita Prefecture in Tohoku due to the fertile soil, optimal climate and clean mountain water. Used in many Japanese dishes, Akita rice is prized for its sweetness and chewiness. Every grain is milled upon order, all the way to Singapore for you.
Try it for yourself at the Tohoku Fair with 1kg of 1st Grade Brown Rice for S$8 (U.P S$8.90) and 2kg/5kg of White Rice (U.P. S$16/S$38.50) for S$14.50/S$34.50.
Mikiko Watanabe, daughter of the Akitaya rice farming family, will be in Singapore alongside Makoto-Ya, the trusted distributor of premium Japanese Rice for rare insight into their process.

At the Tohoku Fair, you can indulge in delicacies like Warabi Mochi (S$11), Gyoza (S$12 for 6 pcs) and Ikura Shoyu Zuke (marinated salmon roe sashimi) (S$34 for 100g).
Furthermore, you can enjoy exclusive discounts on premium food products. For example, the Sendai A5 Wagyu Beef Yakiniku costs S$35.80 for 100g compared to its usual price of S$45.80.

Alcohol enjoyers may be delighted that there are also discounts for Japanese alcohol. Prices range from $38.50 for a bottle of 300ml Kimoto Umeshu (plum liquor) (U.P. S$43) to S$140 for 720ml of Kimotoumeshu Gokujo (U.P. S$155).
