Quick Summary

Shio & Sato’s pop-up at The Centrepoint will close on 26 April due to the mall’s restructuring, ending its planned lease after launching in October 2024. Founded by Genevieve Lee and Seth Lui, the bakery is known for its shio pans in sweet and savoury flavours, with early visits recommended as options may be limited after 5pm. The update is most relevant for customers planning a final visit before its uncertain next move.

Shio & Sato is now somewhat of a household name, having been extensively covered in local lifestyle and food media since the start of their operations. Those who are hearing its name for the first time might be a little late to jump on the bandwagon.

Shio & Sato is a popular Singaporean pop-up bakery specialising in shio pans (salted butter rolls), created by MasterChef Singapore runner-up Genevieve Lee and influencer Seth Lui. Shio & Sato’s Centrepoint pop-up will be closing on 26 Apr as The Centrepoint undergoes restructuring.

With its soft, airy, and buttery shio pan in a myriad of different flavours, Shio & Sato has made a name for itself since its launch in Oct 2024. Popular savoury options include Kombu (S$4.80), Truffle (S$4.80), Garlic Herb Cheese (S$5.50), and Green Chilli Onion (S$5.50), while popular sweet options include Matcha Hokkaido Milk (S$5.80), Azuki Butter (S$6.50), and Chocolate (S$4.80)

For both diehard fans and new customers wanting to taste these decadent, hearty rolls before their closure, Shio & Sato owners recommend arriving about 5 minutes before the pop-up opens to ensure access to all flavours, fresh out of the oven. On the other hand, arriving after 5pm is not recommended as it means there may be limited flavour options remaining.

Regarding the future, the owners mention that they have no exact plans moving forward. They are keeping their options open, looking to discuss and collaborate with landlords, brands, distributors, or potential collaborators “who believe in what (they’re) building”.

As Shio & Sato will be closing this chapter at The Centrepoint, fans can only hope this isn’t a goodbye, but a “see you soon”. With the brand’s proven following and buzz, it feels less like an ending and more like a pause before their next rise, wherever that may be.
