In the middle of a global energy and supply chain challenges, FairPrice Group has implemented measures aimed at a clear goal: helping families manage daily life at a time when costs are hard to predict.

Fairprice initially froze 100 commonly purchased essentials from 9 Apr to 31 May 2026 to help customers manage household budgets and maintain access to daily necessities. However, in a statement on 23 Apr, FairPrice Group changed it to over 300 essentials, available from 23 Apr to 31 May 2026.

The range has been chosen based on FairPrice’s internal data, which shows that more than 9 in 10 Community Health Assist Scheme (CHAS) Blue and Orange cardholders regularly purchase from this basket.

The price freeze constitutes part of a broader response to rising costs and economic uncertainty. Grocery bills account for over 20% of household expenditure in Singapore, an even higher burden for lower-income families. FairPrice’s steady pricing on essentials does not eliminate financial pressure, but it directly benefits consumers by stabilising a key area of spending.

Alongside this, FairPrice is doubling discounts for CHAS Blue and Orange cardholders, increasing them from 3% to 6% over the same period. These cards are part of the Community Health Assist Scheme, which offers healthcare subsidies to Singaporeans from lower- and middle-income households.

Beyond these headline initiatives, FairPrice has also been refining how support is delivered. The embedding of MyInfo into its app in 2025 enabled close to 900,000 Link members to automatically update their profiles.

For most shoppers, simply scanning their Link membership card or using the app at the checkout is sufficient for the system to recognise their eligibility and automatically apply the appropriate discounts.

In 2025, more than S$25 million was returned to customers through Linkpoints redemption and targeted discount schemes. These schemes helped seniors, Pioneer and Merdeka Generation members, and CHAS cardholders.

All of this together forms a steady and practical response to inflationary factors. The approach does not resolve the issue in sweeping terms, and instead focuses on easing the everyday experience of spending on essentials.

Looking ahead, FairPrice is also actively exploring ways to extend or enhance existing support. The organisation commits to regularly reviewing these measures to provide consistent assistance and peace of mind, so families can look forward to shopping without worrying about the cost.
