When I think back to the fireworks displays that I have enjoyed, these are the 3 things that make it a fun, enjoyable experience:

Comfort: Some spots are sheltered while some aren’t, and some have benches while some need you to bring along your own mat or foldable chair if you want to get comfy.
Crowds: Well-known spots attract a bigger crowd, while some are hidden and usually overlooked by many people.

1. Stadium Riverside Walk

If you’ve been to Kallang Wave Mall, chances are that you’ve already walked on one of the prime spots to watch the NDP 2026 fireworks without even knowing. Stadium Riverside Walk is the outdoor landscaped area filled with luscious greenery situated right outside Kallang Wave Mall. Stadium Riverside Walk is a scenic stretch around the whole of Kallang Wave, which I personally prefer, as that means you can move around as the night progresses.

Stadium Riverside Walk spans between the banks of Kallang River and Kallang Basin, for extra views of the waterfront before the NDP 2026 fireworks kick off. Additionally, it is situated quite near the National Stadium. I find that even though I moved around along the stretch, I still got quite a good and direct view of the fireworks for my liking.

The nearest MRT station to Stadium Riverside Walk is Stadium (CC6).

Kallang Riverside Park is a riverine park, perfect for viewing the NDP 2026 fireworks as it is situated just north of the Kallang Basin. Head down early and explore the park before settling down for the fireworks. There’s so much to look at; I’ve spotted some smooth-coated otters along the riverbank, scampering away in a romp. There were also coastal trees along the riverbank, with fruits that resembled green grapes; the tree is aptly named ‘Sea Grape’ as well.

There are also benches and little huts along the park, so you can enjoy the fireworks while remaining sheltered.

The nearest MRT stations to Kallang Riverside Park are Lavender (EW11) and Kallang (EW10).

3. Singapore Indoor Stadium North Entrance

Ever noticed the flight of stairs near the Indoor Stadium? Head up, and you will find another prime spot to watch the NDP 2026 fireworks. I chanced upon this rooftop area, and it has a quieter atmosphere as it is further away from the National Stadium and the Kallang Basin, but it is still within the Kallang vicinity. Besides the stunning views of our skyline, there is also a whimsical mirror ball sculpture, titled ‘Dream’, to get some mirror selfies in before you enjoy the fireworks.

This is another spot to bring along a picnic mat for your comfort while waiting for the fireworks. There are some sheltered areas around, but to avoid getting sunburned, I would suggest bringing along a hat and/or umbrella.

To get to the north entrance of Singapore Indoor Stadium, the nearest MRT station is Stadium (CC6).

4. Kallang Water Sports Centre

Another great vantage point to watch the NDP 2026 fireworks is the Kallang Water Sports Centre. It is located along the Kallang basin, giving one of the more direct views of the fireworks popping off at the Kallang basin. I personally like this spot as it gives a really clear view of the Kallang Basin and the skyline behind it. Additionally, it is especially appealing once the sun begins to set. While there are railings to lean on while waiting, I highly suggest bringing either a mat or a foldable chair to avoid feeling as though you’ve been punished to stand.

To get to the Water Sports Centre, the nearest MRT station is Stadium (CC6); it is approximately a 4-minute walk.

5. Lookout deck at Kallang Basin

best free spots to watch ndp2026 - lookout deck

The lookout deck at Kallang is a spot further away from the stadium yet offers a good viewing spot away from crowds. The main lookout deck has brick pavement along with fences surrounding the deck. The deck is opposite the National Stadium and overlooks the Kallang Basin. Your legs might get sore from standing like mine, so bring along a mat or even a foldable chair for the best viewing experience of the NDP 2026 fireworks.

While there is no official address for this lookout deck, it is near the Waterways Watch Society. Once you spot the Waterways Watch Society, you will be able to find the lookout deck easily.

6. Bugis Meadow

best spots to watch ndp2026 fireworks - bugis meadow

The Bugis Meadow is a large grassy area located within Kallang Riverside Park, which overlooks the Kallang Basin as well. I found the area to be really scenic with a direct view of the National Stadium and the large Kallang River. Additionally, as it’s a vast grassy area, I brought along a mat and got comfortable sitting on the grass, surrounding myself with the nature nearby. You can even bring along some snacks and card games as I did and have a little makeshift picnic while waiting for the fireworks to set off.

To get to this open grass field, take Exit A from Lavender MRT (EW11), and it’ll be a 10- to 15-minute walk to Bugis Meadow.

7. Tanjong Rhu Suspension Bridge

best spots to watch ndp2026 fireworks - tanjong rhu suspension bridge

Tanjong Rhu Suspension Bridge is located within Tanjong Rhu Promenade and wraps around the Kallang Basin. As I stood over the bridge, I liked that it provided me with an elevated, over-the-water experience of watching the fireworks. With the reflections of the lights and buildings around reflected onto the water, it resembled a shiny glass bead.

I also like that it is part of Tanjong Rhu Promenade, as well as that it allows me the freedom to walk around the promenade to explore the place and look around.

To get to the Tanjong Rhu Suspension Bridge, take Exit A from Kallang MRT (CC6), then it’ll be an estimated 4-minute walk.

8. Tanjong Rhu Lookout Tower

Tanjong Rhu Lookout Tower is a 4-storey tower located within Tanjong Rhu Promenade. Trust me, it is definitely worth the climb. Upon climbing up, I felt the wind in my hair and the adrenaline running through my veins from the sheer height I was at. The Tanjong Rhu lookout tower will provide an elevated, panoramic view of the landmarks surrounding the tower, which include The National Stadium. This makes for a great view of the NDP 2026 fireworks; the skyline view of all the nearby landmarks will pair nicely with the fireworks going off.

To get to the Tanjong Rhu Lookout Tower, take Exit A from Kallang MRT (CC6), then it’ll be an estimated 4-minute walk.

9. Merdeka Bridge

best free spots to watch ndp2026 fireworks - merdeka bridge

Another great spot to watch the NDP 2026 fireworks is the Merdeka Bridge. The bridge will also offer an elevated, unobstructed view of the fireworks being set off along the Kallang Basin. As the bridge serves both pedestrians and vehicles, it can get noisy at times as vehicles travel by. It can also get hot as there is no shelter, so do bring along an umbrella to protect against the sun.

There are staircases leading down to patches of grass, where you can also watch the NDP 2026 fireworks if you prefer somewhere to rest instead of standing on the bridge. I suggest bringing along a mat if you’re choosing the grass patch below the bridge.

There is no official address for Merdeka Bridge, but Singapore National Stadium is east of the bridge.

10. OCBC Square

For a spot conveniently situated outside Stadium MRT (CC6), OCBC Square is the best spot. If you’re like me and want to head home right after the NDP 2026 fireworks show ends to avoid the crowds while travelling back home, OCBC Square is a great option as it’s near the MRT.

I had a hearty lunch and bought some snacks and drinks in Kallang Wave Mall to enjoy while waiting for the fireworks to start. Kallang Wave Mall is conveniently located right beside OCBC Square. There is also air-conditioning within the mall so you can cool down before heading out to watch the fireworks.

How to choose an NDP 2026 fireworks viewing spot

If convenience matters most, choose OCBC Square or Stadium Riverside Walk, both close to Stadium MRT with easy access before and after the fireworks.

For a quieter experience, the Singapore Indoor Stadium North Entrance and the Lookout deck at Kallang Basin offer more space away from the busiest crowds.

Kallang Riverside Park suits those who prefer benches and sheltered areas, while Bugis Meadow is better for a picnic with a mat. If elevated views are the priority, consider Tanjong Rhu Suspension Bridge, Tanjong Rhu Lookout Tower or Merdeka Bridge.

The right choice depends on whether you value accessibility, comfort, crowd levels or the viewing angle.
