Recently, I heard about the 17-day pasar malam at Pasir Ris from 17 Jul to 2 Aug 2026, 12pm to 10pm.
The promise of multiple street food stalls was expected, but what intrigued me was its location: the intersection of Pasir Ris Block 428 and 105. I wonder what that would look like.

So, a pasar malam with roughly 30 stalls, divided into 2 halves by a traffic junction. Huh?

I couldn’t even snap a shot of the whole pasar malam, so I had to take 2 separate shots. Here’s the first half of the pasar malam.

And here’s the second half.
We had to cross the traffic lights several times to visit different stalls, and there wasn’t a dedicated seated dining area, so we could only eat at the nearby HDB void deck. Fortunately, the food here made the experience worth it.

The first stall that caught our eye was Man Kou Xiang Stinky Tofu with its oriental-style roof and red lanterns. We were spoiled for choice with the 6 bases and 13 flavours. That’s 78 combinations, if you do the math!

Eventually, we ordered the small White Stinky Tofu (S$7.50 for Small, S$9.50 for Medium, S$11.50 for Large) with the Minced Garlic Chilli Soup Base.

I was expecting a more pungent aroma in the stinky tofu, but that aggressive smell was barely present. No wonder Man Kou Xiang Stinky Tofu is known for its mild stinky tofu smell!

The soup came with long mushrooms, as well as herbs and chilli that brought out a savoury and spicy flavour. This was well-absorbed by the tofu. With each bite, the flavourful soup would burst in my mouth!

To quell the spiciness of the tofu, we ordered 2 medium-sized drinks from Hock Kee Bird Nest Drinks: the Ice Aiyu Honey Lime (S$4 for Medium, S$5 for Jumbo) and Bird Nest Drink Cup (S$3 for Medium, S$4.50 for Jumbo).

Our favourite was the Ice Aiyu Honey Lime, which leaned towards the sour side, but was complemented by the sweet honey. The aiyu jelly was also cut to the just-right size and had the perfect smoothness. It was so good that we slurped up all the jelly way before we finished the drink!
The Bird Nest Drink came with a faint, refreshing pandan flavour, and just the right amount of sweetness. The only thing to nitpick was the tiny size of the bird nest pieces, which would have been better if they were larger.

We also ordered a plate of Mentaiko Cheese Spicy Egg Roll (S$10) from Best Korean Fried Chicken.

The egg had just the right thickness for me to enjoy its eggy flavour alongside the mentaiko. The cooking time was managed well, too: the egg was neither runny nor dry.

Within the egg roll lay a piece of sausage and springy noodles that resembled the kind used in okonomiyaki. Overall, it was a great dish; our only complaint was the tiny pieces of eggshell we found inside.

Would I recommend the Jul 2026 Pasir Ris pasar malam? Well, the repeated crossing of traffic lights may be a hassle, but I enjoyed the exercise! Just remember to bring an umbrella, or you’ll be trapped on 1 side of the pasar malam if it pours.
