Got adult money and a weakness for cute things? You may want to exercise some self-control before stepping into Play Nation’s first flagship pop-up in Malaysia at The Exchange TRX.

Founded in 2009 as a board game cafe, Play Nation has since expanded into toy distribution, tabletop games and lifestyle products, while continuing to operate board game cafes in Singapore.

Its Malaysian debut takes over a space near the Food Exchange on the Concourse Level at The Exchange TRX, and will run from September 2026 to March 2027.

The Singapore-born lifestyle and toy brand has brought along a sizeable lineup of Sanrio, Care Bears, LINE Friends and its own Heritage Series, plus a DIY station where you can make your own miniature ocean scene.

The summer-themed Sanrio Sun-Kissed collection is also available, featuring Hello Kitty blind boxes, accessories and lifestyle goods.

Care Bears gets plenty of shelf space too, covering plush pouches, backpacks, blind boxes, tumblers and wireless earbuds featuring characters such as Funshine Bear, Birthday Bear and Bedtime Bear.

More finds include phone stands (RM39.90), plush keychains (RM39.90) and magnetic plush phone stands (RM59.90).

Not everything here needs to go straight into your shopping bag. At the DIY Bar, visitors can make an Ocean in a Bottle for RM29.90, choosing a mini figurine and decorating their bottle with layers of sand, shells and pebbles before sealing it up.

A Play Nation-themed photobooth with props is also available for those who want a few photos before leaving.

Beyond TRX, Play Nation products in Malaysia are also available at Parkson outlets in 1 Utama, IOI City Mall, Sunway Velocity, Setia City Mall and Labuan, as well as another pop-up at Intermark Mall.

Just a girl with strong opinions on pop culture. Not a chef, but growing up with Gordon Ramsay if he's a 4'7 traditional Malay lady does have its benefits.
