A new local fusion Western hawker has officially landed in Little India! Opened and run by an ex-restaurant chef, Botak Western has set up shop at 638 Veerasamy Road. It boasts an extensive menu composed primarily of hearty Western fare with an innovative local twist, and has already caught the attention of neighbourhood foodies.

Chef Gino, the talented ex-restaurant chef behind the grill, pairs his work experience in Italian fine dining with bold Asian influences to create original recipes. He shared that opening a hawker stall was a longtime dream and is driven by a straightforward philosophy. “Having worked in restaurants previously, I’ve always believed that good-quality food shouldn’t have to come with a high price tag.”
Chef Gino’s ultimate mission with Botak Western remains clear — “to bring restaurant-quality food to the heartlands at affordable prices, so that everyone can enjoy a good meal without spending too much.” With Chef Gino at the helm, you can expect nothing less than professional cooking techniques and high-quality ingredients. The menu punches way above its price tag, with generous portions and great taste.

The Pan Seared Barramundi (S$16.80) comes beautifully crispy with white, perfectly flaky flesh served over roasted potatoes and vegetables in a creamy white wine and butter cream sauce. The fillet portion looks generous and hearty, with the dish reminiscent of something you’d find in an upscale restaurant setting.

If you’re in the mood for a truly unique fusion dish, check out their signature Sarawak Chicken Curry Shepherd Pie (S$10.80). Underneath the crispy baked mashed potato crust lies a bed of deeply savoury and aromatic Sarawak-style chicken curry. The curry is traditionally prepared with santan — coconut milk — to produce a velvety and smooth texture while imparting a light fragrance to the gravy. The dish is topped off with shavings of mozzarella and parmigiano cheese for added umami.

Sides lovers, skip the plain fries and grab the Har Cheong Pork Belly (S$8.50), fried till crisp and golden brown and paired with a punchy cincalok dipping sauce to cut through the unctuousness.
Whether you’re popping in for a quick lunch or a casual weekend treat, this spot proves you don’t need air-con or a fancy setting to enjoy serious restaurant-quality Western eats.
