When we talk about cafe hotspots, places like Bendemeer is often among the first places that are mentioned. Now we can add another to the list since Joo Chiat has recently been populated by an explosion of trendy new openings that propelled them to the top of any cafe-hopping itinerary.

After a string of openings from popular brands such as Common Man Coffee Roasters, Prairie by Craftsmen, another beloved brand has landed in Joo Chiat—Apiary. This new Joo Chiat outpost will be their third outlet and swiftly follows up to their Jubilee Square outlet which just opened its doors earlier this year.

Unlike the previous outlets, the sign at Joo Chiat reads Apiary Lab | Provisions, hinting that something different is brewing. What’s cool about this new space is the array of fridges stocked full of goodies which you won’t find at other Apiary outlets.

So it’s actually like a provision shop with specially curated coffee, tea, and treats populating the fridges. For craft beer fans, homegrown craft beer stockists Bunker Bunker will also be having a pop-up there, so you can grab some brews to go with your gelato.

But if you’ve never heard of Apiary before and you’re a gelato aficionado, then you’re missing out. Their original outlet at Neil Road used to attract long queues of people looking to fight the heat with some of their blissfully creamy creations.

Some of their most popular flavours include a premium Sicilian Pistachio that oozes a fragrant nutty richness and their namesake Apiary, which is a delectable mix of honey with crunchy cacao nibs. And if you have a craving for more floral-forward flavours, there’s also a Manuka Honey opening special.
