In an Instagram post on 18 Feb 2025, Big Dot Chicken at Chinatown Complex Market & Food Centre made an announcement that they will be closing soon. No specific date was given, but they shared that “Our last day should be sometime in April by our estimates or earlier when we finish our inventory.”
The announcement was met with several comments expressing sadness that Big Dot Chicken was closing, and regulars saying that they would come down for “one last taste”.
This marks yet another closure announcement for this month.

Founded as a social enterprise by 3 friends, Big Dot Chicken’s goal was to offer affordable food, as well as employment opportunities for those in society who may have fallen through the cracks. They were willing to hire even those who had no prior experience in F&B or individuals who could only work short shifts due to other commitments.
Their fried chicken is inspired by the nostalgic flavour of the “good old days”, with some customers comparing their chicken to old-school KFC.

You can choose your own chicken pieces: Drumstick (S$2), Wing (S$1.50), or Thigh (S$2.50), with options for spicy or non-spicy. To round off your meal, you have the choice of either fries or nasi lemak. Their chicken is served freshly fried and steaming hot, and the seasoning is reminiscent of a mix between KFC and Arnold’s – think strong savoury notes with a little pepper kick.
In addition to fried chicken, the stall also has Waffles (S$1) and Wafer Ice Cream (S$1.50), so you’ve got dessert covered too.

Big Dot Chicken will be giving out keepsakes in the form of keychains featuring their mascot with the purchase of every combo meal. For those who haven’t yet tried their fried chicken, hurry down before their closure!
